Iron Maiden News, Links, and Interviews

Could be it, but I suspect that none of them even had the chance to listen to that version of Maiden music. Because Steve was/is adamant.

Well, Maiden's only really polished records are:

Killers
SIT

(^both have a unique sound)
Powerslave (a proper sound for a heavy metal album)
FOTD (Adrian probably likes it along with SIT)

...and maybe BNW and AMOLAD.

To be honest the arrangements are more of a problem than production lately (TBOS and Senjutsu). I listened to Brighter Than A Thousand Suns yesterday and that one's arrangement is superior to every arrangement they did since.
I'm not sure I'd agree with that. I like the song but it seems very cut and paste to me, especially with the galloping bit in the middle.

I’ve accidentally put the latest episode of Iron Maiden Pub Quiz podcast up two days early because I’m a clumsy idiot. It’s a great episode though! We talk about The Number of The Beast, we have an EXCELLENT bit of Iron Maiden heresy plus there’s a pub quiz at the end. Get it wherever you get your podcasts and join in the fun!IMG_7936.jpeg

AMOLAD truly deserves this recognition. One of the best metal albums assembled as a whole piece. With attention to detail and no fillers. Every song, performance and idea is so strong. Some modern classics too. Great, impactful music/lyrics and riffs. Maiden are just better musicians since the Reunion and it's remarkable.

It's an impressive album in Maiden's discography. I like a lot that it's heavier.

It really goes to show how remarkable Maiden's late stage career is. A lot of the albums in that article are made by some major musical royalty who also had assistance from younger musicians and writers to bring their music up to date. Not that there's anything wrong with it, but the Maiden album stands out as an example of a more insulated project: just the core band members writing and performing music that is mostly typical of their signature sound but updated just enough to result in something that resonates with younger fans. Glad to see it getting recognition alongside the usual suspects such as The Stones and Bob Dylan.

Another late career album not mentioned in the article that I think is at a similar caliber as AMOLAD and others is David Bowie's final album, Blackstar.

Dom Lawson (Metal Hammer scribe) would have written that part. He's a longtime Maiden superfan and often reviews them for that site (he also first met the band on the show Jim'll Fix It, but we won't talk about that).

I can confirm that the printed version is indeed signed by Dom Lawson. He also wrote the text for the AMOLAD tour programme.

All but confirms that RFYL isn't the end.
Steve confirms this for the second time, so great. Even though there is no direct quote that says: ''they're planning to carry on for years to come, still have plenty of gas left in the tank''.

So since that's the plan, I think the next tour should be a new album tour because that's what they usually do. I can see Part 2 of RFYL for 1 year only.

This is nice to read: Touring with both bands as long as possible. I'm the sort of person that likes to keep busy. I'm always doing something or other, always on the go. As soon as I get home I’m already thinking about the next tour - and that's great, because it's what I love doing.

Not sure if this has been posted already? Bruce did a 2+ hour podcast with Rich Roll. Lots of interesting stuff:

I wish Maiden did more long form interviews like this.
