Freebie. This person was alive on that date.
 
Ok, cool, so born before 1650, but alive on Jan 1 of 1650.  Narrowed down quite a bit there.
11.  Was this person involved in the physical sciences (e.g. physics, astronomy, and chemistry-- as opposed to biology/earth science)?
 
13. There is one major theory this person was extremely famous for - but they were also famous for quite a lot in the field of science.*
