Same. It feels more like an Axl Rose solo record. My issue with it is how overproduced it ended up, basically stitched together from a dozen different musicians. If it had come out in 2002 when it was basically finished, I think the reception would've been way better.I like Chinese Democracy as well, you just need to approach it as not a Guns n Roses album. It's a good album otherwise.
For me now Gnr doesnt exists i love them i heard any new song or album but im not going to see them live. Its waiting song after song if axl sounds good in any song. And slash at the moment he improvises too nuch his solos. Like murray in the lazy daysEach to their, totes obvs but for me Guns n Roses didn't exist until Slash and Duff came back.
Chinese Democracy is a curiosity for me, nothing more.
You have leaks on youtube atlas 2000 version and nothin seems to be slash on guitar. A bad songThe band have the most useless management in the music business, this happen every time they are announcing new songs or new stuff to market. They have blamed the delay on some previous products to "the world is so insecure now, so we decided this is not the time to release songs now", or other version is "it is 2023 now, the music business has changed so much the last few years that we don't know how to publish new music". Combine them with Axl' insecurity how they can follow up their glory days, and you have a receipt for total public relation disaster.
The new songs were pretty much a footnote when they announced the North American tour dates. So my guess they will come out when the dates are up for sale at Friday, or they are pulled out for good again
