Guess The Iron Maiden Song!

"Out of the Shadows"?
  • "Time" is in the lyrics, which is a Pink Floyd song
  • The lyrics refer to "King for a day", which is the name of the Faith no More album (clue six)
  • It's written by Harris/Dickinson, which is the only song on AMOLAD with that combination
  • It's been played live
  • Like "Coming Home", "2AM" and "Children of the Damned", it's a (semi-)ballad

We have a winner! Well done, @BloodOnTheBassistsHands.
Your turn.
You started well, but I'll explain the rest of the clues in a few minutes.

Clue 1:
It's hard to live in the city

A central line from the lyrics in the Lou Reed/Velvet Underground song "Ride into the sun".

Clue 2:
In the lyrics you can find the name of a Pink Floyd song, a Neil Young album and the name of a progressive rock band from the 1970 with a self self-titled debut album. The second song on their second album is also similar to a line in the Maiden song you're looking for.

"Time" is the PF song, "Old Ways" is the Neil Young album, Gypsy is the prog-rock band, with a s/t debut album from 1970. Gypsy's second album has the song "Reach out your hand", whereas "Out of the Shadows" has the line "Reaching it its hand"

Clue 3:
A few contrasts are established, that are central to the lyrics.

The chorus has the contrast of shadow/sun and beauty/pain

Clue 4:

Saga have a song called "Out of the Shadows", although not on this album. The album title nods to "beauty and pain" from Maiden's lyrics.

Clue 5:
The song ends with a statement about human existence that is found across several mythologies. It is also a commonly used trope in films.

"A man who casts no shadow has no soul." This is often used in films to show that a character is in some way otherworldly or evil.

Clue 6:
Faith_No_More_-_King_for_a_Day..._Fool_for_a_Lifetime.png

Faith No More's "King for a Day....Fool for a Lifetime". Point to "king for the day" in the OOTS lyrics.

Clue 7:
It is an album track that has been played live. However, it features only on one Maiden release.

Self-explanatory.

Clue 8:
A transition is a key element in the lyrics.

From the shadows to out light/sun, and from newborm to grown-up.

Clue 9:
This song has more than one composer, and is the only on the album credited to this exact songwriting partnership.

Harris/Dickinson.

Clue 10:
The song has something in common with Coming Home, 2 A.M and Children of the Damned.

Like it or not, but these songs are - or at least have elements that are typical for - power ballads.
