Guess The Iron Maiden Song!

Clue 1: All I'm saying is 1742.

Clue 2: The song title was once misunderstood by a Maiden member.

Clue 3: NTR

Clue 4: A version of the song has been recorded by another band. This band also has an original song with the same name as another Maiden song that appears on an album with the same name as an AC/DC song. The name of this song/album can also serve as a description of the protagonist of the Maiden song in question.

Clue 5: Clue 1 refers to a song. This song is linked to clue 3, which is a song by another band. There is a somewhat obscure link between these clues which is provided by an Iron Maiden member, but it is also quite possible to work out the Maiden song in question without that (obscure) link.

Clue 6: The song appears on a single and on a compilation album.

Clue 7: Clues 2 and 3 both relate to questionable spelling.

Clue 8: The lyrics contain the name of a band with whom Maiden have shared stage.

Clue 9: For a very limited amount of time, the band in clue 7 had a distinct influence on Maiden.

Clue 10: Bonus clue: The song has been played live on more than one tour. It has appeared both early and fairly late in the band’s setlists.

Clue 11: One of the lines in the song can be read as unintendedly foreshadowing a Maiden release.

Clue 12: The song has been recorded more than once, and three different Maiden guitarist have played on these studio versions.

Incorrect guesses: Starblind, Dance of Death, Man on the Edge, Rime of the Ancient Mariner, Lord of the Flies, The Reincarnation of Benjamin Breeg, Still Life, The Fallen Angel, For the Greater Good of God, Powerslave, 2 Minutes to Midnight, The Evil That Men Do, The Trooper, Heaven Can Wait, Lord of Light, Prowler, Virus, Invasion, Afraid to Shoot Strangers, Massacre, Phantom of the Opera, Wildest Dreams, Infinite Dreams, Stranger in a Strange Land

Charlotte the Harlot.

No idea if it fits any of the clues but there's not many other songs that have been recorded more than once that haven't been guessed yet

iron maiden - on loads of compilations and only ever final song in the set
invasion - already guessed
prowler - already guessed
strange world - is on a compilation and played on more than one tour, no connection that I can see between a band name or a Maiden release in the lyrics, not on a single
wrathchild - loads of compilations, too many guitarists on the various studio versions, on more than one single
sanctuary - loads of compilations, on more than one single
transylvania - no lyrics, not on a single
running free - loads of compilations, on more than one single
charlotte - already guessed above
the wicker man - on more than one compilation, on more than one single
the trooper - loads of compilations, on more than one single
run to the hills - loads of compilations, on more than one single
hallowed - loads of compilations, on more than one single
brighter than a thousand suns - no compilations, not on a single

That's all the multiple studio recordings i can think of. I must be missing something glaringly obvious

AC DC have never recorded a song with the same name as an Iron Maiden album, have they?
Or am I reading the clue wrong? Or you are not talking about a studio album, but some bootleg (e.g "War Machine", the Wembley 1990 concert)?
:wtf:

I think you're reading it wrong.

There's another unknown band who covered the Maiden song.

The unknown other band's album is the one with the same name as an AC/DC song. And that album has a song with the same name as a Maiden song.

It's not clear but I think the Maiden cover is not on the same album as the album with the same title as an AC/DC song and featuring another song with the same title as a Maiden song.

Wrathchild

Correct! Your turn.

Here are the answer to the clues:

Clue 1: All I'm saying is 1742.
Lennon's "Give peace a chance". Written in a Montreal hotel, room no. 1742. Bruce Dickinson produced the video for (the band) Wrathchild's single "Nukklear Rokket" (if I remember the spelling correctly) in 1988. In the video, Bruce also makes an appearance with a "Give peace a chance"-sign.

Clue 2: The song title was once misunderstood by a Maiden member.
On the practice tape from Scarf Studios owned by Thunderstick, "Wrathchild" is spelled as "Rothchild" (afterwards scribbled over with the correct spelling).

Clue 3: NTR
Abbreviation for "Nuclear Thermal Rocket". See clue 1.

Clue 4: A version of the song has been recorded by another band. This band also has an original song with the same name as another Maiden song that appears on an album with the same name as an AC/DC song. The name of this song/album can also serve as a description of the protagonist of the Maiden song in question.
Seattle rockers Zeke covered "Wratchild" on a covers compilation released in 2000. Their 1998 album "Kicked In The Teeth" has a song called "Aces High". AC/DC's "Kicked in the Teeth" is the Powerage album closer. The protagonist in "Wrathchild" can be described as "kicked in the teeth", as he is obviously pissed off about something.

Clue 5: Clue 1 refers to a song. This song is linked to clue 3, which is a song by another band. There is a somewhat obscure link between these clues which is provided by an Iron Maiden member, but it is also quite possible to work out the Maiden song in question without that (obscure) link.
The link in Bruce Dickinson's work on and appearance in the video. Obviously, the link to Wratchild as the band would have given it away straight.

Clue 6: The song appears on a single and on a compilation album.
The Twilight Zone single and Metal for Muthas. Obviously, it also appears elsewhere, so the clue doesn't state that these are the only releases of the song.

Clue 7: Clues 2 and 3 both relate to questionable spelling.
Self-explanatory.

Clue 8: The lyrics contain the name of a band with whom Maiden have shared stage.
Queen (Rock in Rio 11.1.85)

Clue 9: For a very limited amount of time, the band in clue 8 had a distinct influence on Maiden.
Damn, I might have messed up the clue numbers here: The idea was (fuckin') Queen in clue 8, and the "Bohemian Rhapsody"-like harmonies Dennis put on Phantom of the Opera, before being told off by Rod.

Clue 10: Bonus clue: The song has been played live on more than one tour. It has appeared both early and fairly late in the band’s setlists.
Self-explanatory.

Clue 11: One of the lines in the song can be read as unintendedly foreshadowing a Maiden release.
I know I gotta find / some serious peace of mind

Clue 12: The song has been recorded more than once, and three different Maiden guitarist have played on these studio versions.
Dave and Tony Parsons on the Metal for Muthas version, Adrian on the Killers version.

Clue 10: Bonus clue: The song has been played live on more than one tour. It has appeared both early and fairly late in the band’s setlists.
Self-explanatory.
You can even say that it was played on almost every tour at some point (apart from Maiden England 2 and LOTB ). ;)

I haven't participated before so this was interesting but also challenging.
The first clue 1742 was difficult as google and such gave of course Lennon, that particular hotel and song "Give Peace A Chance", but it didn't help much at all because I can't recall ever seeing that music-video at all. I got couple guesses left and found something as looked other clues but the one that gave it away, was that it had been re-recorded, from which there aren't too many songs to left to choose from.

Ok, as Im kinda new to the game and actually busy in everything (irl) at the moment, I decided that I will pass this turn and let someone else start the next round. I can do my own turn later. Is that ok?

Here is the video, Bruce appears just before 2:00. Apparantly, his bit is filmed outside his home in Chiswick.
