Bull's Eye! Your turn,
@TheMercenary
Clue 1:
The title of this song contains the name of a film. The lead male actor in this film is more famous for playing another character. He has also played in a film which is linked to another Maiden song.
The film is “Somewhere in time” (1980), starring Christopher “Superman” Reeves. Reeves also played in the 1995 movie “Village of the Damned”, a remake of the classic 1960 film which Children of the Damned.
Clue 2:
There are two main characters in the song's lyrics.
Character A is trying to persuade character B ("you") to sell his soul (or something like that) .
Clue 3:
In the lyrics you will find the name of songs by Bon Jovi, Boston and Pink Floyd.
"Always". "Don’t be Afraid". "Time".
Clue 4:
One of the characters in the lyrics seems to be in (or be about to get into) a sticky situation. Albeit less dramatic, there is an account of a parallel situation in one of Maiden’s more humorous B-sides.
Someone is or is about to be caught somewhere in time. "Roll Over Vic Vella" begins with an account of someone being caught in a hole of some
sort.
Clue 5:
Although rather subtly, the song marks a change for the band.
The guitar synth was unchartered terrotory for the band before the SiT album. On the album opener, the sound is most notable in the intro.
Clue 6:
The song has a number of the defining features of the archetypical Iron Maiden song.
The chord progression, the gallop, the length of the song, the twin guitar melodies, the chorus repeating the song title X 4.
Clue 7:
The story of the song involves a concept that Maiden have dedicated an entire song to on another album.
(A) Time Machine.
Clue 8:
The song takes its plot from a 1970s film that is also the name of a 1980s superhit that went to No1 in the US, an Ozzy Osbourne song from the 1990s, and an episode of The Wire from the 2000s.
The film is "Time After Time" (1979), which was also the namen of Cyndi Lauper's 1983 megahit, a track on Ozzy's "No More Tears" album and the first episonde of The Wire's third season.
Clue 9: (got the numbering wrong here in the last update, but never mind...)
The song starts with a (hypothetical) question.
Self-explanatory
