Both of them are in my top 10 album list.

I prefer Puppets because I have 5 Puppets songs in my Top 10 Metallica songs list.

Metallica - Ride the Lightning

Puppets has several less inspiring moments, while Ride continues to be a great ride, almost the whole album.

Exactly.  In the Metallica survivor I found myself voting for much more Puppets songs than Ride songs, though the best songs can be found on Puppets.  In this respect, I'd compare them to Powerslave and Somewhere in Time, respectively.

Ride The Lightning for me. It is a close contest, but the presence of my favourite Metallica track, Creeping Death, tips the scale RTL's way.

Creeping Death is my fave metallica song too. Also I don't consider Escape and Trapped Under Ice to be fillers like some people do, I love all the songs on RTL. (There are no fillers on MOP either but I feel RTL has a higher "average" of songs)

Ride the Lightning.
FWTBT and FTB make the difference for me.

I'm going with Ride as well.
I think the only reason claim MoP is the best metallica album (not even gonna go to "best album ever") is because of MoP itself. there actually pretty boring parts in this album.

By the way, I find it remarkable that a qualifying round makes two of the big guns duel each other. Doing it this way will make for some really one-sided polls later on.

Ride the Lightning. I genuinely find MoP massively over rated and I don't enjoy much of the album after Leper Messiah. The Thing That Should Not Be is also one of my least favourite Metallica tracks.

On the other hand, Ride the Lightning has 4 classics (RtL, FWTBT, FTB, CD (take that acronym haters ;))) and the other 4 are all at least good, even escape.

The loser of the 2 Qualifying Finals will be given a 2nd chance in the Semi Final. The winners go straight through to the Preliminary Finals.

Oh wait. I mistook this for the "2011 poll", for which we were nominating albums recently. I thought the nominations were done and this was some kind of "qualifying" for the first round ...  :oops:
