GREATEST METAL ALBUM CUP - Winner: Iron Maiden - Seventh Son of a Seventh Son!

I can dig Kyuss, even if it's nothing special. Obituary are not for me.

Second Virgin Steele album is more to my liking. Vocal tone on the 1998 one is meh.

Kamelot by a dozen fucking miles.

I don't like Yngwie, but I just cannot take FNM seriously. I know the level of talent is out of this world, I just don't like the sound.

Kamelot closes the gap, Kyuss pulls ahead, and Yngwie has tied FNM - do we have people in to break the ties?

do we have people in to break the ties?

Say no more.

Cause of Death is such a classic and nostalgic death metal experience, I can't not vote for it.
Let's just eliminate these two Virgin Steele albums and nominate The House of Atreus.
Kamelot are more interesting than WASP.
Faith No More is more interesting.

Kyuss by a long way. I keep trying death metal albums due to this game and sometimes general forum chat and I really dont know why.

Invictus because I don't care. I think theres a good Best Of in this band but theres too much rubbish for me to get through either of these albums.

WASP. This is the worst of WASPs good albums but at least I can listen to it all. When Kamelot are fast and heavy I'm on board, despite the chessy lyrics and oh so earnest vocals but the slow shit makes my skin crawl.

Yngwie clearly likes to play but he can fuck off. Faith No More.

I'd rank them

Angel Dust
The Real Thing
Sol Invictus
Introduce Yourself
Album of the Year (tied with We Care a Lot if that counts as a real album)
King for a Day

I'd swap Introduce Yourself and Sol Invictus, otherwise my list is the same. I started listening to them on that album, so it has a special place in my heart.

Wow, I'm looking at Malmsteen's albums and I just remembered I listened to like three of his albums one evening 2-3 years ago while doing homework. I completely forgot about it until now (I heard Trilogy, Odyssey, and Eclipse, they were pretty good).

Kyuss - not bad, but the music is not interesting enough, I lose my attention. Obituary only gets better with each listen :)

The Virgin Steele derby is the hardest of these. The Marriage sounds more melodic and leaning towards hard rock, and Invictus is more metal. He does this funny annoying Van Halen shriek more often in The Marriage there I think, and the songs on Invictus sound more complete, but that's just my taste.

Here's me listening to Sword of the Gods:

W.A.S.P - not my thing. Kamelot are good. But I was super disappointed when the "19 minute" song revealed 8 minutes of silence

Rising Force - nice shredding, probably the best of the guitar virtuosi so far, but I don't care for it very much, surely not enough to be The Real Thing.
