Ghost (Tobias) have so obviously progressed as songwriters and performers with each subsequent album that I simply can't fathom the "old stuff is better" argument in this case.
Stand By Him is bland.Stand by Him at the bare minimum are better than anything on the following albums.
But it is....It's almost like seeing fans who got into Maiden during the Blaze era saying something like When Two Worlds Collide is better than Sanctuary.
What does this have to do with anything? What if someone does like "When Two Worlds Collide" better than "Sanctuary"? Are they wrong? Is that absurd? No. It's just a different taste and opinion from yours. It's almost like seeing fans who got into Maiden during the Blaze era saying something like When Two Worlds Collide is better than Sanctuary.

They haven't though. The stuff may be a bit more polished on later albums, and maybe some of the Satanism is less corny* but the riffs don't rock as much nor are the hooks more memorable on the following records than as they are on the debut. Ritual, Elizabeth and Stand by Him at the bare minimum are better than anything on the following albums. What is that Square Hammer still doing here?
It's pretty much the best Ghost song. What is that Square Hammer still doing here?
You can't possibly, realistically think it won't be winning this game. What is that Square Hammer still doing here?
Oh, the dreamers may die, but the dreams live on.You can't possibly, realistically think it won't be winning this game.
That's something I didn't like about Dance Macabre. The 'Wit Choo' play on words sounds unnecessarily trendy. Definitely sounds like a shot at the mainest of mainstream.I like the double entendre with "bewitch you" and "be with you" a lot, I think it's very clever.
