I'm still puzzling over the inclusion of Afraid to Shoot Strangers in the Maiden England tour. I have three explanations, with at least 1 and 3 not being mutually exclusive:

1. It replaced Infinite Dreams, which the band assessed and decided not to play.
2. It was meant to 'tease' a 90's history tour which never happened, similar to how Moonchild and Clairvoyant might have been meant to 'tease' an upcoming SSOASS themed tour during SBIT. That was the feeling I had when they played those two songs back then.
3. It was meant to be a nod to the 90's, knowing they would not cover them in a dedicated tour.

I'd say it's pretty much 1, maybe with a little bit of 3 too. While FOTD was more or less terribly out of place in SBIT tour, it wasn't nearly as much in ME set with ATSS being there too. If only they dusted off something like BQOBD to open the encores or replace 2MTM or BYDTTS to close the set, there would have been pretty good coverage of the early 90's too. Oh well, didn't happen and most likely wasn't even considered, but in my opinion, it would have been rather good concept. The main focus being the 80's would've sold the tickets, but either or both of those additions would have added quite a lot depth.

That being said, I really enjoyed the show as it was. Generic in places, but the set had a great flow and was pretty unrelenting, as Bruce himself stated back then.

After three years of ME, I'm really fine with not revisiting SSOASS again.

Kinda agree, but if there was a change for one album being played in it's entirely during something like a "farewell tour"... Well, as much as I love SIT, 7th Son would perhaps still be my choice. Might be a different story if Infinite Dreams was actually played in ME tour.

1-8 SSOASS
9. Powerslave
10. The Number of the Beast
11. Brave New World
12. Hallowed be Thy Name
13. Iron Maiden
14. The Prisoner
15. Fear of the Dark
16. Wasted Years

Or something.

The Number of the Beast will be great to be played live in full ! They should have done it in 2007 leg of the AMOLAD tour.

Maybe a setlist for a concert like these would have been ->

1.Invaders
2.Children of the Damned
3.The Prisoner
4.22 Acacia Avenue
5.The Number of the Beast
6.Run to the Hills
7.Gangland
8.Hallowed Be Thy Name
9.Tailgunner
10.Wrathchild
11.Fear of the Dark
12.Iron Maiden
Encores:
13.Phantom of the Opera
14.2 Minutes to Midnight
15.The Reincarnation of Benjamin Breeg

Also, POM, Powerslave and SIT albums will be great to be played live in full !
No Total Eclipse? I'd add it in and bump it up to 16 songs.

I don't add it because it was not part of the original release of the album and I only chose 15 songs because the whole AMOLAD tour was with 15 songs on the setlist :)

I don't get why Maiden never play Futureal more often - it will be great in the Wrathchild place for almost all the reunion tours... o_O

It's a great short rocker song, not so challenging and a fresh approach to the setlist !

I liked a chance to see Afraid to Shoot Strangers love, especially since the tour also included Phantom of the Opera. And Aces High.

The version of Aces High on that tour was far worse than the SBIT 2008/2009 version IMO.

But, if you haven't seen it before live, it was cool, I guess.

It's final Frontier.. somewhere back in time and death on the road. AMOLAD is 3B. Final Frontier blew me away. What a collection and my favorite concert experience of all time in so California. I'm extremely glad I witnessed AMOLAD in hindsight as it seems to be the most unique Maiden tour ever, and seems to be lost in time.

Well, yeah, it was, but not all the performances were that (Knewborth '14...) bad. I was in the Helsinki show and Aces High turned out fairly well there.

Oh well, it felt better there back then...

I do hope I get to see Moonchild live again. I have no memory of it from my Maiden England show, I was too busy freaking out.

But would it be better with the intro played live as they did in...hmm was it 2008???

It was, but I don't think the intro works very well live. I prefer it as it is on Maiden England (and as it was on the Maiden England Tour overall), with the pre-recorded intro and the band bursting on stage in time for the first verse.

I liked Moonchild better on Maiden England tour for sure. More exciting with the intro tape and Adrian plays the solo.

Right, I forgot that Jan played that one!!! I'd definitely go with H doing the solo.

Agreed. I'm generally very open-minded when it comes to switching solos and to be fair, Janick has come up with some very decent ones too, but I'm not a huge fan of his take on Moonchild. It was great and even a relief to see and hear Adrian playing it again back in Maiden England tour.
