The best set for me was the Brave New World tour - All of the BNW songs are classics and that is my favorite album [Rock In Rio is a legendary concert] :)

I also like Worlds Slavery Tour - Maiden on their high heyday + the stage, and all those classic songs - magical !

And of course the LOTB tour....

Although it depends on how you define deep cut, doesn't it? SBIT featured Aces High, which was played for the first time since 1999 and had before that not been played since 1985; same for Powerslave. Rime hadn't been played since 1987. Moonchild was a complete surprise, it hadn't surfaced since 1989, and defined 'deep cut' for me back then. Heaven Can Wait and The Clairvoyant had an appearance in GMETID but hadn't been live staples in a long time either. Even Can I Play With Madness wasn't all that common and had been played only on one tour since 1992.
Maiden England significantly devalued the rarity status of a lot of those songs, but in 2008, the setlist was a sensation.

I think the problem then was that most of those songs were expected to be played. When Bruce said they are gonna rebuild the pyramids, I have known instantly that Aces High, Powerslave and Rime will be played and I don't have problems with those tracks.

The problem for me were the other tracks that either weren't on the compilation or weren't in the scheme of Live After Death. They were all, with the exception of Moonchild played in the past 5 years.

All that said, it was still a great set compared to the ME tour, which was a major letdown, because only SSOASS, Prisoner and ATSS (wtf?) were rare songs. And don't get me started on the omission of Infinite Dreams again...

I'm still puzzling over the inclusion of Afraid to Shoot Strangers in the Maiden England tour. I have three explanations, with at least 1 and 3 not being mutually exclusive:

1. It replaced Infinite Dreams, which the band assessed and decided not to play.
2. It was meant to 'tease' a 90's history tour which never happened, similar to how Moonchild and Clairvoyant might have been meant to 'tease' an upcoming SSOASS themed tour during SBIT. That was the feeling I had when they played those two songs back then.
3. It was meant to be a nod to the 90's, knowing they would not cover them in a dedicated tour.

I definitely think it’s 3. Seemed like a pretty clear indication that a 90s tour would not be happening since it was probably the only 90s song that this lineup hasn’t played that they would want to bring back.

I agree with you about the SBIT tour - it was like a retrospective tour for the Live After Death album, so I think the following songs would have been a very welcomed deep cuts: 22AA, MITRM, DWYBO, FOI, RF... at least the 2009 leg contained: POTO, COTD, Sanctuary, Wrathchild - they even could played Losfer Words (Big 'Orra).

On the ME tour they should have added: Infinite Dreams, DWYBO, Killers, Still Life, SIASL, 22AA

I think that if it was option 2, they would play BQOBD to open the encore.

I also think it's 3, combined with 1.

Maiden has really played a lot of material theoughout the years. But apart from the Early Years tour they never really touched numbers they never did before. I would love to see them perform full albums on their anniversaries as Tallica did.

Man, I would kill for SSOASS to be performed in it's entirety.
Infinite Dreams, The Prophecy, Only The Good Die Young

After three years of ME, I'm really fine with not revisiting SSOASS again.

The Number of the Beast will be great to be played live in full ! They should have done it in 2007 leg of the AMOLAD tour.

Maybe a setlist for a concert like this would have been ->

1.Invaders
2.Children of the Damned
3.The Prisoner
4.22 Acacia Avenue
5.The Number of the Beast
6.Run to the Hills
7.Gangland
8.Hallowed Be Thy Name
9.Tailgunner
10.Wrathchild
11.Fear of the Dark
12.Iron Maiden
Encores:
13.Phantom of the Opera
14.2 Minutes to Midnight
15.The Reincarnation of Benjamin Breeg

Also, BNW, Powerslave and SIT albums will be great to be played live in full !

SIT would be a trainwreck. They can't replicate that album's sound and atmosphere live, apart from "Wasted Years" and "Heaven Can Wait".

No.

Ohhh :D A short song is needed, though this setlist would be more entertaining than the actual one in the 2007 leg of the AMOLAD tour
Why not Clairvoyant or WED or BNW or Wicker Man or MOTE or Futureal or Trooper or WY or CIPWM or Rainmaker or DOG or SOL or anything that isn't Wrathchild...

Lol this isn’t Bruce Springsteen you know.

Because they always play Wrathchild and it is a very short song, but Futureal will do a great job in it's place !
