I'm still puzzling over the inclusion of Afraid to Shoot Strangers in the Maiden England tour. I have three explanations, with at least 1 and 3 not being mutually exclusive:
1. It replaced Infinite Dreams, which the band assessed and decided not to play.
2. It was meant to 'tease' a 90's history tour which never happened, similar to how Moonchild and Clairvoyant might have been meant to 'tease' an upcoming SSOASS themed tour during SBIT. That was the feeling I had when they played those two songs back then.
3. It was meant to be a nod to the 90's, knowing they would not cover them in a dedicated tour.
it's number one. The band rehearsed the song and for whatever reason, chose to do afraid to shoot strangers due to the gun violence and debates happening at the time. This was stated by Rod to several fans after the Atlanta gig... and spread all over the fanclub forum.
