Personally, I would have SSoaSS as my best album - possibly because the whole album gels as one. BUT, POM is worthy of a mention.

I would also like to point out that had the best of NPftD and FotD merged into one - I think that would possibly stand out as one of the best...ever. But that’s immaterial really.

I like piece of mind the most, but number of the beast got me into iron maiden

Quick question:
Why did you name yourself after such a forgettable song? There are plenty of others to chose from /sleep.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\"-_-\" border=\"0\" alt=\"sleep.gif\" /]

Killers gets my vote. Ides of March is an awesome opener and the way Wrathchild just flows out of it is great. Murders In the Rue Morgue is a classic, Killers is one of their most atmospheric songs ever made, and Prodigal Son has some great guitar solos. It's only flaw is Twilight Zone and Purgatory which are kind of boring and sound pretty similar.

1. Killers
2. Piece of Mind
3. Number of the Beast
4. No Prayer for the Dying
5. Powerslave
6. Somewhere in Time
7. Brave New World
8. Fear of the Dark
9. The X-Factor
10. Iron Maiden
11. Seventh Son of a Seventh Son
12. Dance of Death
13. Virtual XI

He has it high up in the list because he likes it. It's not a very hard concept to grasp, you know. In a more serious tone, it's called having an opinion, they're different. No need to get so uptight. /sleep.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\"-_-\" border=\"0\" alt=\"sleep.gif\" /]

Seventh Son. Why? Because the whole thing feels complete, more so than any other Maiden albums. 8 tracks. no filler, all connected beautifully, produced masterfully and arranged lusciously
Moonchild-damn, those keyboards after the cool acoustic intro just get me pumping every time. Bruce has some real energy in this track, especially the very first line 'I am he, the bornless one!'
Infinite Dreams-perfectly counterbalances the previous track with a soothing intro, and some nice murky synths in the background. Bruce's half-scream in the middle is poor, but the way he turns it into a moan works well
Can I Play With Madness-very commercial, but a great chorus and upbeat feel provide some light relief before...
The Evil That Men Do-ahhh, yes. One of the best Maiden songs ever, and one of my favourites off this album. Beautiful intro, followed by pure brilliance in the riffs, and that bridge just before the chorus? Perfect
Seventh Son of a Seventh Son-Epic as you like, and great main riff. Chorus gets a bit tiring, but the ending amends for it
The Prophecy-Underrated. That's all I can say. Melancholic, demented, just plain wonderful. Intros and outros are brilliant
The Clairvoyant-'Arry's bass intro remains one of my defining Maiden moments. Just a brilliant song
Only the Good Die Young-way to close the album! Brings every theme together, from the synths in ID, to the opening riff of 7th Son. The crashing ending perfectly conveys the 7th son's death, and the final outro pays homage to his bitter cynicism, as he leaves the sinful world behind.

Phew.
Notable mentions:
Brave New World
Dance of Death
Iron Maiden
(in no order)
BNW-perfect proggy feel, good mix of fast/slow songs and some brilliant songwriting
DoD-ditto, only less proggy and more rocky. Some filler (unlike BNW), but even that is of a good standard
IM-All good songs (Sanctuary less so, due to its simplicity), especially PotO

Incidentally, all of the above (with the exception of BNW) were among the first Maiden albums I actually bought (and all for a fiver!)

And, just for tradition:
1. SSoaSS
=2 BNW
=2 DoD
=4 NotB
=4 PoM
=4 PS
=4 SiT
=8 VXI
=8 IM
=10 tXF
=10 FotD
=11 Killers
=11 NPftD

Although there really is very little separating ANY of those albums (really, they all have their good points, and bad points are few and far between)

Why have you got 'No Prayer...' so far up the list? ::
Because despite The Assassin and Bring Your Daughter... To The Slaughter it's an awesome album. Not to mention that Mother Russia is a truely great song, and brings the album up a notch or two.

Actually, I quite like The Assassin; it was one of the only songs (along with Mother Russia and Run Silent, Run Deep) that actually stuck in my mind after the first playthrough. The others took much longer for me to actually remember, let alone like. And 'Bring Your Daughter...' is much better live, in my opinion. Still hate those lyrics , though /happy.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\"^_^\" border=\"0\" alt=\"happy.gif\" /]

I can't see the poll choices  but I guess I can post my views anyway :p

Powerslave - an almost complete album and the two greatest Maiden songs ever on it, ROTM and Powerslave. And because I keep returning to it even after all these years.
NotB - do I need to explain? Brilliant album and what got me into IM in the first place, 23 years ago (My God, I'm getting old! :o )
DoD - Another great album with 2 of my favourite songs, Montsegur and Paschendale, and a return to form after what is to me a number of weaker albums.

I did not know that. Thanks for the information.

However, spelling your nick with alternating uppercase and lowercase letters makes me question your maturity. Every time I've seen anyone with a nick like that, they've shown themselves to be a little teenage idiot. I'll try to give you a chance to prove your mettle, but you are officially on Mr. DICKtionary's watch list.

(Don't take it personal. So is everyone else!  )

Really old terrible men?

Well, the boys in Maiden may soon be there I guess, and so will I, but alas I only misspelled. Of course I meant ROTAM, as in Rime of the Ancient Mariner which still is the one song I never seem to be able to grow tired of regardless of how many times I hear it. That spells greatness in my book ;)

Favourite album, hmm, tough one...
For the moment it´s a matter of life and death but that could be the thrill of a new allbum.. It takes a while to se if it has any longevity. The one album to rule them all though is Somwhere in time I think. I remember when I listened to it the first time and I thought the general sound of it was thin. But after a while I really started to dig it. Beautyful textures on this one. Of all maiden albums it´s the album that is the most exiting listening too from start to finish. It has one or two weaker tracks compared to seventh son for example but still, I think it´s the mix of songs that does it for me.

Fixed the poll. Everybody will have to vote again (you can also change your vote if your opinion changes). :)

And so my vote shall be the same. ;)

Well, I've voted again but this time I actually voted for AMOLAD. Not because it's their most recent but because it's such a bloody great album. There may be individual songs that are better than the songs on AMOLAD (ROTAM (see Conor, I learn from my mistakes ;) ) comes to mind) but since there are no weak songs on it, in my opinion, this is their best ever.

Really sorry for the inconvenience, but the first option got swallowed so I had to reset the results again. :(

See above.  Why?  It is hard to explain.  There are no lows.  Even The Legacy has great moments.  Many instrumental parts, which I enjoy.  Emotional and powerful lyrics.  I love the time changes, even Out of the Shadows at 3:29 which took me a while to get used to.
