There's a difference between supporting and protesting against it.

Sure .. but looking the other way/doing nothing to stop it. Which is an interesting question ... if you know/suspect there are extremists in your midst and turn the other way .. are you supporting them? There is nuance to that for sure

There's a difference between low support and protesting against it.

Yes, because Christians all around gather and protest against Christian extremist groups all the time. ::)

I've met hardcore Muslims in my time. People who know nothing but being Muslim, people who are even discriminative about their views on religion. I've yet to meet one person who condones the violence against the cartoonists.

My freedom of speech stops at the moment I cause harm to others. Not offense. Not impugning honour - which, by the way, is a bullshit concept that gets people killed, honour - the moment I use my platform to incite actual harm. When I am harassing someone, when I am ordering a group over whom I have sway to kill or hurt others. When I slander someone.

Violence is never an appropriate answer to speech.

Please do not portray me as someone who condones violence as an answer to speech. Never said it was. I'm against provocation at all places, and that's all I said. If what you do as a joke/art/etc. is going to offend someone, don't care and go for it. But do not do it just so as to get people riled up, get a reaction from them and push your own agenda with it. That's what's going on with here with this Dutch politician. An "Anti-Islam politician" can kiss my ass.

People need to be aware of people who are pushing the Islamophobia and racism agenda under the mask of "defending free speech". It's happens all too often.

There is no protection in freedom of speech from racism, though.

That's just one of the variables. There's no clear cut consensus on what freedom of speech really is. You did draw the line at incitement, other people could draw the line somewhere else.

Assholes .. I guess rioting and stopping people from catching their flights is easier than providing better service

Fuck them .. out of principle, I'll use Uber next time I am there versus these assholes

French taxi drivers have blocked the roads to Paris airports and the main ring road around the city in a protest against Uber, prompting riot police to fire tear gas at some.
The drivers set up blockades and burned tyres as part of a nationwide strike.

Barriers also appeared around Marseilles and Aix-en-Provence in southeast France.

Uber, a US taxi app, has been expanding its UberPOP ride-sharing service in France despite government objections.
Images from Marseille and Paris showed cars overturned and tyres burning in the street.

Aeroports de Paris, the operator of the French capital's Charles de Gaulle (CDG) and Orly airports, warned passengers to travel by train.
"Access by road is completely blocked," the company said on its website. "The only way to get to CDG is (by train)."

With traffic at a standstill in places, some travellers walked along the side of the motorway to reach the airport.

Musician Courtney Love Cobain appeared to have been caught up in the violence. She tweeted saying her taxi had been ambushed and protesters were "beating the cars with metal bats". She also shared an image of the window of her taxi spattered with egg.

Around 3,000 cabbies took part in the strike, blocking access to the capital's Charles de Gaulle and Orly airports, and preventing cars reaching train stations around the country.

Ten people were arrested, seven police officers were injured and 70 vehicles were damaged in clashes between Uber drivers and taxi drivers.

Seems like a lot more should have been arrested Screw these people. It is bad when Courtney Love is the voice of reason

Love, Kurt Cobain's widow, was caught up in a confrontation near Charles de Gaulle airport.

She tweeted that protesters "ambushed" her vehicle and "were holding our driver hostage".

She appealed to the French president in another message, writing "Francois Hollande where are the fucking police???"

"This is France?? I'm safer in Baghdad," she added.

Adios Greece ... probably just as well for all parties concerned.

Finland and the Netherlands have said to to an extension.

The government backed itself into a corner with no way out.

A very dejected looking eurogroup president arrives. He says he was " very negatively surprised by the decision of the Greek government. They have apparently rejected the last proposal on the table" and proposed a negative referendum "with negative advice to the Greek people."

"That is a sad decision for Greece as it has closed the door on further talks."

He says he will discuss "future consquences" with Mr Varoufakis.

Shockingly, the new governments plan to keep in Greece in the Euro seems to be failing ...

ATHENS/FRANKFURT, June 28 (Reuters) - Greece said it may impose capital controls and keep its banks shut on Monday after creditors refused to extend the country's bailout and savers queued to withdraw cash, taking Athens' standoff with the European Union and the International Monetary Fund to a dangerous new level.

Greece's banks, kept afloat by emergency central bank funding, are on the front line as Athens moves towards defaulting on a 1.6 billion euros payment due to the IMF on Tuesday.

The European Central Bank said it would not raise the level of emergency funding, adding to the pressure on Greece's banks which have been surviving for the past few weeks on frequent incremental increases to the funding lifeline

Amid political drama in Greece, where a clear majority wants to remain inside the euro, the next few days present a major challenge to the integrity of a 16-year-old currency bloc.

"This is a matter that we'll have to work overnight on with the appropriate authorities both here in Greece and in Frankfurt," Greek Finance Minister Yanis Varoufakis said of bank closures and capital controls. He was speaking to BBC radio.

My mom is going on a vacation there on Friday, great timing. It's gonna look like Slovakia in EuroTrip movie soonish :P

There's no credible evidence that this is inside Ukrainian territory.
Also, insurgents got T-72 too.
And article author is some sort of armchair general predicting "Russian offensive on Mariupol".

Also, Russians are lying all the time.
P.S. I wasn't implying that these are their forces, just that they can't be currently trusted in their denial of involvement.

There's a deal.

After the zillionth meeting (this last one was a Marathon meeting of 17 hours) it is agreed that more than 80 billion will be lend to Greece. Athens needs to permit Europe having a funds consisting of 50 billion of Greek state possessions which need to be privatized. The trojka will get an important role again.

Still, we're not there yet. All Euro member parliaments need to agree. I wonder what the hardliner countries Germany, Netherlands, Finland and Austria will do. And Greece itself of course.

It is an interesting deal. But I think a good one for Greece. Their government has owned too much stuff without being able to support it.

It seems like they could have gotten this deal a while ago. Reforms and no debt forgiveness in exchange for a third bailout

The bigger question seems to be will Greece pass it, this is pretty much the deal the rest of the EU countries asked for to start with.

The bigger bigger question is when will Greece take actual steps to grow their own economy (private sector) and try to bring in businesses and find some way to export something/anything of value. If they cannot do that, they are hosed no matter what happens on the bailout front

Greece passed what they needed to pass. Too bad they did not agree to this sooner, they could have avoided the further damage to their economy with the currency controls.
