Dream Theater

That was a great top 10 by stardust on the previous page.

Don't agree with all the choices but it's great reading why people chose certain songs as their favourites. Loving the blind faith love. That's been one of my favourite songs for such a long time and have never really seen or heard it talked about.

Breaking all illusions....a bold choice for best dream theater song. It's a great song but it just reminds me that I don't think I could ever pick one song as my favourite as I'd change my mind every day lol.

Been listen to a lot of dream theater lately as I've just finished reading Rich Wilsons official biography. Brilliant book and definitely recommend it. It's well written, detailed and doesn't make the band look like constant heroes like most official books tend to. It pulls no punches and tells it warts and all. In fact at times it makes some of the guys come across as complete bell ends lol. Just shows them as human I guess as we can all be bell ends at times :)

By the way, the killing hand is a great song from the debut. Fortune in lies is my favourite from that album but killing hand is a close second. It's definitely worth tracking down the official bootleg when dream and day reunite as it has a cracking production and James is on top form as is the rest of the band and it really brings the debut to life and makes the songs sound amazing. Live at the marquee also has some superb renditions of songs from WDADU.

...wow, that was worth publishing
It's too bad. I'm not in the bring back Portnoy camp but if they lost anything with him it's the interactions with the fans. I've gotten the impression ever since that they're desperately trying to maintain that relationship with the fans, but it always comes off as a bit cold and management manufactured, like this video.

Remember when they had those DT12 "making of" clips leading up to the album release? They basically said the same things over and over again while recycling the same clips in different orders.

If you replaced all the scifi medieval stuff with war footage, The Astonishing would be a favorite Sabaton album around here.

Dt announced they would play the whole cd on the current tour when they announced the tour. If maiden had announced the same thing when they announced the amolad tour, wonder if there would have been less complaints if fans had known ahead of time what to expect?

Two different fan bases. There are more casual maiden fans who are only interested in hearing Run To the Hills than there are casual DT fans who only want to hear Pull Me Under.

"More" is an understatement. A lot more. A fuck ton more.

Pretty much. I'm not sure if there is such thing as a casual fan at a DT show. I'm sure not everyone knows their entire catalog, but they're at least goimg to be familiar with the newest album and expect them to play it.

WD&DU: Undecided. (I haven't properly listened to this album in ages.)
I&W: Take The Time
Awake: Space Dye Vest
ACOS: A Change of Seasons. (I know it's not an actual album, but this song rules.)
FII: Trial of Tears
MP2: SFAM: The Dance of Eternity (Home is a close 2nd.)
6DOIT: Blind Faith (Good to see so many others here appreciate this song. Glass prison a close 2nd.)
TOT: Endless Sacrifice
Octavarium: Octavarium
SC: In The Presence of Enemies Pt I
BC&SL: The Count of Tuscany
ADTOE: Lost Not Forgotten
DT: Illumination Theory (Behind the Veil a close 2nd)
Astonishing: Probably A New Beginning. (I haven't listened to this album that much)

These are all subject to change as I re-listen to each album.

Edit: Changed This Dying Soul to Endless Sacrifice for TOT.
Awake: A Mind Beside Itself [I. Erotomania, 2. Voices, 3. The Silent Man)
I'm not sure if this counts; I would consider those three separate songs.
