I like Scarred a lot. I'm listening to it right now. The bass is killer. But my favorite from Awake would probably be 6:00. What an opener!  :shred: I think the album is at its best on the last 5 songs.

The DT song I'm currently stuck on is Raise the Knife. I just can't stop singing the "I NEVER WALKED OUT ON YOUUUU" bit followed by the chorus :)

Never heard it. I'll go listen to it right now. I don't think I have to say what song I'm stuck on. ;) Also I'm enjoying the new song, Lifting Shadows, and most of I&W.
Not bad, not bad at all.  :applause:

I don't have FII. I saw it at the store but wasn't really interested, but I listened to Peruvian Skies and Trial of Tears and they were really good.

Out of all the DT songs I have heard, I think it is best at setting a mood.

Haha I have the exact same shirt!

That video was hilarious! I'm checking out their music now. The John Myung impersonator was funny too.
That song was very good. I wish they had a physical copy of "Natural Causes".

That's probably the most underrated DT album, most people hate it for being too commercial, but it's got some real gems on it nevertheless. Lines in the Sand, for example, one of my favorite DT songs.

Which is part of the reason why I passed on it. Also I heard that JLB's voice is rather weak on the record as his food poisoning incident was recent.

He was working with limitations, but JLB still sounds good there. Remember, anyone can eventually get it right in the studio.

What you want to avoid is (most of) the live album from that tour, Once In A LIVEtime. JLB does sound horrible at times there. "Take The Time" is virtually unlistenable (but skip to the last few minutes, where DT plays the giant Free Bird guitar solo section). However, there are some gems on that live album; the live version of "Peruvian Skies" is fantastic, and it contains quotes from Floyd and Metallica.

On the subject of live releases, I found good deals on Score and Budokan and was wondering which wan was better? I'm leaning toward score because I saw the Octavarium video and it is amazing, it also has 6 degrees which I'm curious to see how it sounds live, and of course the orchestra playing the overture. I also know very little of the songs on Budokan.

I think Budokan has a very good setlist, and the Instrumedley is a marvel to behold. The band looks good - before JP turned into a bear, before MP and JR grew the crazy beards etc. The special features are great, especially JP's guitar gear feature.

Score has a bit of a strange setlist, since they were playing a song off every album. The second half with the orchestra is great. JLB is amazing; quite a few DT fans have said that night may be his single greatest night as a singer so far. You get some real rarities live: "Another Won" and "Raise The Knife".

So Score is probably better, but either one is a solid choice.

Edit: it's gotta be Score, if only for JP's legendary Octavarium lean-back.

The Orchestra was only on the second half? I think that would be cool if they did a whole show with an Orchestra. Well I think I'm gonna get score then, since it seems better and that's what I wanted in the first place. I also love documentaries and the one on the DVD looks very good.

I'd say I'm getting ADTOE for my birthday, but I can't wait 15 days after it is released.

I don't mind it at all, it's actually got a pretty good setlist, a helluva lot of songs. It's certainly not as horrible as Maiden's Real Live Dead One or Live at Donington. :ninja:

As for Budokan vs Score, I prefer Budokan because basically I'm not a big fan of either Octavarium or 6DOIT (I find all the parts except from War Inside My Head and The Test That Stumped Them All extremely creepy and sad). Plus, it's got a great version of In the Name of God (excellent Petrucci solo at the end instead of the Hymn of the Battle Republic).

@ Mosh - My birthday is 12 days after the release of the album, I'll get it as an early birthday present as well. :ok:
