I think fade outs a lot of the time contribute to a song -I can't imagine Fade to Black without one, for example- but anyway.

Overture Beyond the Spirit Carries On

Take The Time
Glass Moon
Dance
Spirit

Couldn't vote for 1928 or Strange Deja Vu even though they'll probably be gone.

FUCK OFF DREAM THEATER AND FUCK YOUR FADE-OUT ENDINGS. Learning To Live, Scarred and this one all have incredible melodies/riffs at the very end that are ruined by retarded fade-outs. Fuck fade-outs so much. I don't give a fuck if they did it to this song because of the plot. Fuck fade-outs.

 I fucking hate fade-outs as much as you hate fucking fade-outs.

Also, I still need more time to listen to this album and decide. It's a strong pack of songs...

That's exactly why I listen to LSFNY's version of Learning to Live. I love that ending!

Metropolis
Glass Moon
Deja Vu
Beyond This Life
Dance

The competition is tight although some songs are less memorable than others. Scenes is such a complete piece in its entirety that choosing something to vote off proves troublesome. Live Scenes is a fantastic addition to it as well as the band seems to have been in impeccable form at the time.

"Under a Glass Moon"

"Fatal Tragedy" (it was between this one and "Overture 1928" for my last choice, but I find the whole "there can't be no turning back" part a bit too cheesy )
"Beyond this Life"
"The Dance of Eternity"
"The Spirit Carries On"
"Finally Free"

Again TTT and LTL (because I want to see Met 1 and Glass Moon promoted and all serious Petrucci fans should want the same, at least as far as UTGM is concerned)
The acoustic part in "Learning to Live" exemplifies how he can also play nice, simple, "non-tickling" things that work very well (in my opinion).

Yeah, but the rest of the song is mostly overlong and treads water. The climax is nice and all, but you still have over 4 minutes left afterwards. To me it's probably their longest song that goes pretty much nowhere and one of the toughest to listen to as far as maintaining attention is concerned. I have to actually force myself if I don't want my mind to wander, so it's very often just a background music for me. This fanatical devotion to that song baffles me somewhat. Is it LaBrie's F#? The Yes feeling? (that said, while I still like them a lot, the "treading water" argument could be said about many of Yes songs, heck, albums (Tales, Drama, anyone?)). I mean, it's still mostly harmless good, but those people who consider it to be the masterpiece to end all masterpieces are seriously listening to it with a very different set of ears or maybe on a different planet altogether. Or it's the nostalgia factor, but that's fair - nostalgia factor might be one of the many reasons I have AMOLAD or SC as my top albums.

And Glass Moon is still JP's best solo on Images, hands down (I might have to relisten to it all and compare to be completely sure, but the gut feeling is pretty strong).

Metropolis
Glass Moon
Beyond This Life
Dance

Saap, dude, what the fuck? Someone hacked your account? :p

I think Glass Moon is JP's most overrated solo. It is especially experimental and executed impeccably in terms of technique but I just don't hear much beauty in it. It is certainly a "wow"-solo but not a particularly interesting one, imo.

Glass Moon is one of the less meorable songs on Images and Words and Metropolis is nowhere near getting eliminated anyway. Beyond, Deja Vu and Dance are all very good songs but speaking of Scenes, these are some of the weaker ones.
