Steve gets depressed again, resulting in Maiden turning to a new sound. Fascinated by the recent emo/post-hardcore movement in heavy music, he used this raw sound to express his feelings of angst and rebellion. The band has started their "World Teenage Angst Tour" and now perform in skinny jeans, not to mention having acquired a wide variety of tattoos, and most of the songs now reduced to breakdowns to truly express his misery in it's raw, beating rage. They also have lots of eyeliner now. This is Maiden's most progressive and lyrically provocative album signaling Maiden's new change in musical direction to a brilliantly evocative screamo atmosphere that is sure to get the waterworks going.
