Didn't China do this for years with knock off fighters?

Yes, hovewer on a way larger scale. The huge state enterprises are doing it. This in Moldova was some Breaking Bad shit, as police shut down the operation. The stuff was bound for Transnistria.

More news out of Turkey. This past week seeing increasing articles on the world's reaction to the news they'll make Hagia Sophia a mosque again. The last one being on how the Pope said it, "pains" him. @The Flash, how big of a controversy is it really? I mean, one thing is what British and American outlets say about it, but how do people in Turkey feel?

It's not controversial. Religious conservatives are in a celebratory mood, the more secular people are either indifferent towards it or view it as trivial and nothing more than a populist attempt to win favors among religious conservatives and a way to shift public focus from pressing issues. Had this issue been the subject of a referendum, it'd probably end in a pretty close vote.

I figured it wouldn't be just based on its history and how it isn't the first time its function changes. Thanks!

I hate all the online newspapers that force you to create an account or subscribe to see one of their news. If you don't do it you can't read anything.

The Independent doesn't do that to me, it just asks me to turn off Ad Blocker. Perhaps it doesn't let people outside of the UK view articles for free. #BrexitMeansBrexit

Yes it's for the use of Ad Blocker (block shit) It's not for the country. In my country I have many sites with that shit that blocks the info if I use an Adblocker because I don't want to view tons of ads.
I can active the read preference that comes with safari. Just the text without anything else distracting me.

The Independent has gone into decline IMO. It used to be a less pretentious and more straight-reporting alternative to the Guardian, now it's marginally left-of-centre sensationalism. I've ended up reading the BBC website, Financial Times and regional press more recently, for more objective reporting.

Word. The Independent website is trash. Its a left sided Daily Mail.

I didn't realize this. I only look at this sort of site when a story pops up in the news app on my phone. I found that The Independent seemed to have contrasting pieces during Brexit which was a refreshing alternative to the champagne socialism of The Guardian or the Tory sycophancy of The Mail and The Express. I've never browsed the rest of the site though.

It's still a different bias to the other traditional British press. It's just I'm sure it used to be quite centrist and reasonably impartial, just 'straight' news and far less wordy and worthy than the Guardian. It seems to be leaning towards left-of-centre scaremongering now, though, probably to make the most of online shares and hits. I fact check Independent stuff regularly. It's rarely completely wrong, but it's often completely overplaying something.
