Coronavirus

I haven't done quarantine yet, I've heard the worst.

Not sure about China, but I think there is no difference, since it's just you and yourself in a room. 4 weeks seems a bit too long. But then again - I was scared of 2 weeks and they passed like warm knife through butter. Everybody leaves you the fuck alone, no requests for anything cause you are like in prison. Just rest and sleep as much as you can, if the food is acceptable and internet is fast, I think you will be totally fine and in the end it will surprise you how fast it all passed.

I stayed in Kaohsiung, even though my wife is from Taipei, because of the cheaper price. I had a small room in a hotel with a double bed, shower, TV with 2 Japanese porn channels, a tiny window. It went much smoother than I thought - enough time to sleep, no stress, nothing do do, internets all day, a little exercise here and there.

I wonder if these things were related... :innocent:

Actually right now (but it's quite extreme) it can go up to 50+ days. Classic panicking, they will cool down when the cases start to decrease. We are now ~1200 cases in all China, super red alarm as you can imagine hahaha. You know the story. Here no cases yet so we are. bit more relaxed.

Sorry, I must have missed, where do you live now? I lived in Qingdao for 2,5 years, precious precious memories.

Since 2 years now in Shanghai, but I did a time in some very rural places in the past. Fond memories, as with everything that's difficult and past. ;)

I like Qingdao and all this peninsula, water and air are quite clean. Weihai, Yantai, all good places. I'm done my bit of running in those shores.
Have you travelled at all in China? I've done some pieces, but recently I did the best: Once Senjutsu was released I took a car from Xining up to Taklamakan and back to Lanzhou from Hexi corridor. Man! Next I plan for Inner Mongolia prior Lunar Year.

Unlike you, I don't speak much Chinese though but I'm starting learning this year. I'm very glad to meet you! Actually I remember you when you joined, I'm sure we've exchanged some words before.
I am not very familiar with the North but in South Taiwan you can easily open a restaurant or a bar many Laowai do. I can introduce you to some people, you'll see.

Your video is great and your accent(s) too ;) Both Chinese & English!

I was in SH for a holiday once, one of my strangest experiences happened there - being paid 200 RMB to party and drink for free, cause of the white face. They sent cars for us and all, visited 3 clubs in total, some of them looked crazy expensive. Pro pole dancers, counterfeit booze, girls with 15+ plastic surgeries, as they do. Finished at around 2AM, took the cash and went to look for a 24 hour spa place to shower and sleep. Cause who needs hotels, if you can have a nice spa, right.

I love the classic Pudong skyscraper view!

Yes, mountains and sea, green tea, old town with the German architecture and the Tsingtao breweries make it one of the more livable cities there. Also not too small / too big. Piece of my heart will stay in Qingdao.

Didn't have that much time off, but I did a few trips in Shandong province, then of course the usual big ones - BJ, SH, ... my favourite city that I visited will probably be Suzhou. Just stunning.

Tomorrow I'm gonna go to a funeral and will wear a mask and avoid touching everyone as much as I can, but just in case, would like to get tested afterwards. How soon afterwards should I get tested? I was thinking Friday or so.

Tough one. It's supposed to be 2-10 days for symptoms to develop on average, but it's thought you're most infectious in the earl stages of infection.

Their fines are super high, so I was really convinced not to step outside my door.

Every day at 10 - 12 and 17 I got a plastic bag with food hung on the door handle from outside. Usually more that I could eat. I hated some of their ideas of the sweet breakfasts, the rest was normal.
If not for the toothache that fucked me up for first 3 days and then disappeared, I would say the stay went almost too quick.

Not sure if you can view this video, I made a small summary.

Pics of some of the quarantine food I was served: View attachment 17972View attachment 17973View attachment 17974View attachment 17975View attachment 17976View attachment 17977View attachment 17978View attachment 17979
That food looks gorgeous! I'm booking myself into Taiwanese quarantine now.

Everything looks OK but mandarina is sublime. It is absolutely the best fruit ever, no contest.
When I was a kid my mom took me to the doctor because my hands were going yellow. Books said liver disease. Unbeknownst to her I've been eating several kg per day and wasn't getting rid of the evidence properly :D

What's going on with Lithuania and Latvia?

Odd effect of low population and population concentrated in a few places? Low rates of exposure in the first wave so no immunity to UK and Delta variants?

So for the first time, I did a test on the suspicion that I might have caught Covid. It was negative, but I really should find the time for the booster jab next week, which is difficult with all my appointments.

I'll be eligible from Christmas Eve for my booster. Not sure how easy it'll be to get, though. The bookings floodgates open for the over 40s on Monday.

6 months should have passed from the second dose to be eligible, right? If that is the case, I will not be getting mine until the end of January at the earliest.

I believe that's the case. I'm confused now though, because third vaccines and boosters apparently aren't the same thing, and I can't work out who is meant to get what. It's definitely almost 6 months since I got my second AZ, though. Fingers crossed for a Moderna for this one. No guarantee it will be a mRNA one, though. They might choose to use up their stock of J&J ::)
