Shame indeed. One can have an opinion ofc, the original has its charm, and BTP's new mix isn't perfect (a bit muddy, thin drums), but Roy doesn't like it because he wasn't part of the production team. And the band now. He/we know that some songs benefit from the heavier sound, and iirc, he and Bruce have said before that they would like to remix it, so. Also, such a work is better than a remaster, like a curious bonus.
I like More Balls. I think the only song that stood as being too overdone was Tears.
More or less, this. The thing is, BTP and maybe AOB/TCW are his solo albums that overall will benefit from, so to speak, some heavy power in the mix (like other 70's, 80's even 90's albums, it's normal). SW has its own specific style and sound. TM and TOS are perfect, what a drum sound in the latter.

So unprofessional. Who would ever want to work with this guy after he’s repeatedly behaved this way?

Heard a few tracks off more balls. My thoughts:

Cyclops - sounds okayish
Gods of war - sounds kinda similar to original
Laughing in the hiding bush - bye bye vocals. Too muffled and sounds bad
Change of heart - too much disturbance and the quietness off the original one got destroyed
Fire - decent
Tears- destroyed

New interview with Bruce.

Some tour spoilers:
Oh yeah, this summer, I’m touring the USA, for the first time with Mandrake. I’ve got seven studio albums to pick from, you know, obviously I’m gonna be playing some stuff from Balls To Picasso, so, you know, ‘Tears’ is gonna be in there and some other stuff. ‘Gods Of War’ probably for sure. A real cool mix of tracks. I mean stuff like ‘The Alchemist.’ People in Europe were like, ‘oh my God, he’s playing ‘The Alchemist’ from Chemical Wedding.’ I went, yep, we’re doing that. And Chemical Wedding and other things too, you know, that people will go, ‘oh, that’s really cool.’ I hope they do. Anyway, because I’m going down to South America on this run, just for one show, ’cause it’s the 40th anniversary since I set foot in Rock In Rio and there’s a big festival in Sao Paulo called The Town. It’s a huge festival! I’m gonna play what I call “my” Maiden songs I wrote completely on my own.

So maybe he will play more than 1 Maiden song during the big Brazil show... a surprise. His written songs: Revelations, Powerslave, Eternity...?

Something from TM?

Other bits:
The realization that I’ve come to after 35, 40 years of doing my essence, is that my essence is actually storytelling. And what I do is I tell stories. I just do it through music or other things.

I wanted the record (TMP) to be as rock and roll as you like. It’s a very emotional album.

In terms of new music, I’ve got 18 songs demoed that I did in April with the band I’m playing and touring with live, which is the same band that I played and toured with on the last European tour and South American Tour. Amazing band! They’re also the same guitarists that did all the new guitars for Balls For Picasso and in fact, some of the solos on Mandrake. Chris Declerq actually played on Mandrake on two or three of the solos there. It’s a great band. Tanya O’Callahan on bass. Just superb. We’ve got a crazy keyboard player who’s a concert pianist and just general maestro. We just have the most amazing live band, and we’re going in the studio in January next year to record the album with Brendan Duffy, who remixed Balls To Picasso and did an amazing job. So we’re going in the studio with him in January, and we’re looking to release the album in 2027.

^Chris played more than one solo on TMP? Bruce got confused.

About BTP album: Well, some of it was me. Like ‘Tears Of The Dragon’ is my tune. We had some of the other songs kicking around. A lot of it was me working with Roy. He was coming up with the riffs and I was coming up with the vocals and ideas and, and things. Then we chucked in a few curve balls. Nothing has been changed, but some things have been added. Big, heavy, crunchy guitars have been added. So a lot of the tracks sound way, way heavier than they did when they were first conceived. Most things can be improved by modern technology. So the existing drums just sound louder, fresher, brighter. I love the horn section in Clowns.

Well, as I say, there’s nothing beats a real live band and I stress a real live band.

I'm pumped for Bruce's next album. Curious to see what style he’ll go for this time—will it be that gritty, streetwise attitude, or his more allegorical, mystical, sci-fi style, which I personally prefer? And how will the music sound with a completely new band? Will they try to emulate the Accident of Birth / The Chemical Wedding / Tyranny of Souls era to some extent, or will they forge an entirely new beast? That live band of his was seriously impressive last year, but the big question is—how will it all translate in the studio?

Same here. TMP grew on me and I quite like all the songs! I wouldn't mind a Skunkworks approach because I´m very fond of that one but I guess that was a one shot. Sure it will be great though.

Me too.
Bruce said he wants to sort of evolve with each album, but then again he can allow to have all styles and approaches solo - like TMP.
If he writes with the guitarists (develop the songs parts), I think it could have a fresh sound (like ''modern'' riffs). If the songs are all his, I guess something similar to TMP, but with more surprises to say. Heavy, for sure. The music and the band should sound great, like live. I wonder if the material could be faster in general with his band. I also prefer more like his ''Trilogy'' style, and ofc there is room for calm and emotional parts/songs. For the approach, I think he will go with the mystical style. How to evolve from TMP? Something even more experimental, heavier than TCW, more keys (Mistheria is awesome), power metal-esque? I just want some faster material and the songs to feel finished (solos, melodies, especially for the longer songs), especially now with 2 guitars. I'm sure Bruce will deliver with his vocal ideas, like always.

I gave it a listen and it reminds me of those "remakes" of classic songs they use in movie trailers sometimes. When it's basically the songs with loud bangs here and there and some orchestral hype added. Well, that's just a half-serious comparison, but overall this release is a mixed bag, some additions work nice, others are way too much. I think the album would benefit enough from just a new mix.
