Bruce Dickinson

Seems legit. Although it is a bit strange that it was created in August 2023 and nobody here noticed it so far.
It was created in the lead-up to releasing TMP. Prior to that, he had no social media presence, and it's doubtful he's hands-on with it apart from maybe whoever actually runs it asking him to shoot a short video for it or whatever.
I have never got the dislike for TMP. It’s a solid enough album although it is a bit weird hearing at least 3(?) versions of Bruce on the album (2023, 2014 and 1998). I kinda wish he just re-recorded all the vocals. I think the album would have get more consistent.
That vocal inconsistency with songs being culled from the past 25 years or whatever is the main thing for me that makes it tough to call it an "album" in the traditional sense, rather than a compilation of old and new material. I like it fine, but it still sits at the bottom of his discography, or tied with Tattooed. I do wish Leana hadn't talked him into using Sonata and used something else, though.

To be fair, Physical Graffiti is widely regarded as one of the greatest rock albums of all time, and it was Led Zeppelin writing new songs and filling out the vinyl space with leftovers from previous album sessions. TMP isn’t a Physical Graffiti but honestly this aspect doesn’t bother me about the album — although that’s probably because of the issue that bothers me the most, the production.

You cannot polish a turd.
Come on, this very album can be improved. There is room, at least half of the songs. With melodies, solos, riffs and other different lyrics parts.

Yeah, and the vocals and some unthinkable mistakes were recorded quickly (whyy? after all these years). The production is modern, but it doesn't sound like such. It's open (not that organic, if you will, like his other albums and even Maiden's latest ones; production is not their strength), but it even lacks power in the mix. Especially the drums. Bruce seems to be a big fan of it, let's wait to hear his remixes...

I don't have a problem with the different vocal takes (it's not that different in feel, at least for me), rather with their production.
Sonata is like the perfect bonus song (I'm grateful for Eternity, but I can say the same for it), but Bruce and Roy cited is as one of their favorites. It's very different, long and no dynamics in the music. I doubt he would play it live... right.

He said he would have added the 1998 demo song to the album if he had found it earlier, so maybe it could have been it. Or Nightmares, who knows. Assuming he always wanted the album to be 10 (well, 9) songs. So much leftover material to choose from, always will feel like compilation in a way.

Some news from a new interview with Bruce (*not the full interview):

  • He was in the studio for 3 weeks with his solo band before the interview - and they ended up with 18 songs in 15 days! He called it the ''demo studio''. Original material? Wow.
  • He's using the same producer as for TMP. And it's not Roy.
  • They're going to record early next year. He said January-April next year is a free zone for him. Which is also good for a new Maiden album, right. And they will probably release the album in 2027 with a tour. Will there be a solo tour next year too? Idk.
  • It seems that Philip and Chris recorded guitar parts for BTP remix. All? He loves it, mentioned songs like Tears, Heart, Cyclops, Clowns.
  • He also remixed some bonus songs like Wicker Man. And apart from BTP, he didn't add any extra parts to his other albums because they didn't need them. Some maybe, imo. Accident-Chemical-Tyranny was called a Trilogy again.
  • He likes that with his solo albums he can be acoustic and then really heavy. The contrast.
  • He has another project or two in mind after TMP comic, but he has to wait.

Funny, I heard the same thing but came to a completely different conclusion - if Bruce has January to April free, that means Maiden haven’t booked anything. I seriously doubt Rod or Steve would let him say he’s got free time if there were even a slight chance of doing a studio album.
And later in the interview, Bruce mentions Maiden are bringing the Run for Your Life tour to the U.S. next year, probably starting in May onward. That means if they’re planning to record a new album, there won’t be any studio time until at least autumn 2026.

Good point, but let's not forget Maiden's way of working ''in secret'' with albums. Plausible I guess if Adrian tours solo in April and Bruce can (wants is different) record his album in parts, unlike Maiden. His solo tour this year ends in early October, so I think they'll leave it for early 2027, depending on their plans ofc. Early next year is the perfect time frame considering their plans.

Btw, idk how much his old albums will benefit from the same TMP remix and whether the next solo album will be a sequel to it (he called it ''Mandrake 1'' and a really cool album already), but was this a joke that the interviewer might have heard some of the new demos? Like how?
Not sure if Roy is to blame with the production issues on TMP, but I hope that the next album will sound better. At the very least the drum sound needs improvement, imo.
He was part of it. The drum sound has always been at least cool and authentic, so I'm hoping for a slightly different in feel production overall, although I'm not sure. To sound better... um. So far his solo albums all sound different. The new songs live sound better because of the better drum sound.

He said the producer will be Brendan Duffey, who mixed and mastered The Mandrake Project.

Regarding the recording of additional guitar tracks for Balls to Picasso by people who were not even part of the band that recorded the album back in the day, I say FUCK THAT!

Balls to picasso sounds so 90s. I will listen that but im whith you
i listened to the remake of wasp crimson idol 1 time and always in that situation i prefer the original. Even with the remasters

Yeah, but if he won't work with him anymore. The new remixes are probably not by him too, now. Additional rhythm guitars is one thing, new solos for the songs created by Roy another. What else? Bruce mentioned orchestrations and sounds. The album needs some power in the mix, but it's 90's in a good way, authentic with the rougher and clear sound. Maybe the drums could be improved, hopefully not like TMP's.
Is he trying to remove Roy from his history?
Next up: Replacing guitar tracks by Roy and H on AOB and TCW.
I hope not.
