Bruce Dickinson

WTF!

Is there an extra zero in there? Or even two extra zeros.

I doubt Maiden have done numbers like that on any boxset.

Bruce mentions - according to the newspaper - 200 thousand copies, but without an original source (i.e. not translated into Spanish), it is difficult to know how accurate the translation might be.

- There would be no farewell tour. Any tour could be the farewell one.

I don't know how to feel about this statement... o_O
- He says the solo album will be released in 2020 or 2021. He still has to finish the album, but he would like to do some touring with Roy Z.

It's great that he wants to do some solo touring with Roy Z. And he still do not finished the album (since 2015)... I guess it is hard to select the best songs from the 17 he had written.

Main points from the interview:

- When talking about musicians and politics he praises Peter Garrett as a musician who went into politics to change things.
- He mentions breaking the Achilles tendon 7 weeks before the start of the tour; he is still doing rehab (the specialist told him it would take between 6 months and a year to be back in shape). The heel does not hurt, but the hip does as a result of walking differently not to load the tendon.
- There would be no farewell tour. Any tour could be the farewell one.
- His plans before Christmas involve going to the pub with his kids, a charity dinner, a conference, some business meeting and going back to do some fencing training again after his injury. Strangely, he mentions living in Paris with his girlfriend, but there could have been something lost in translation (by the journalist), as Bruce can be seen wearing his wedding ring in the pictures taken in Argentina.
- For the Concerto for Group and Orchestra 50th anniversary show he will be singing a few Deep Purple songs: When A Blind Man Cries, Perfect Strangers, Smoke on the Water, Hush and Pictures of Home.
- He says the solo album will be released in 2020 or 2021. He still has to finish the album, but he would like to do some touring with Roy Z. He mentions that the Soloworks box set has sold 200000 copies and that he is really proud of his solo albums.
In the Argentinian ceremony I've seen Rod, Nicko's wife and Bruce's wife enters before them

Dunno... Some private-life obsessive people were convinced a year ago that Bruce separated from his wife and has a girlfriend from Scandinavia, but that has gone quiet since. Not really that I care. Could be an open marriage.

He is simply stating this in a context that they will not milk the fans with the Farewell Tour card (which is the right decision IMO) and will call it a day when they feel like it.

Idk. This sounds like: ''come to our concerts, because you never know which one will be the last''. Not that Maiden needs that (they always play in full arenas/stadiums). But a farewell tour would be great too IMO (and we know that Maiden will never do like some other bands who keeps playing farewell tour time and time again - when Maiden say this is the end, then it will be for sure).

And he said that they will continue playing as long as they still loves doing it and when they do not have the passion anymore they'll retire. So that they also wouldn't know which tour is going to be their last.... But I think they will never lose the passion for music and playing live - and does this mean they will play forever.. :innocent:

Eh? This is life not fairytale... Every performer has to give up to father time eventually. Even if he still has the passion.

Farewell tours close all doors for the future. It's quite possible, even if you can't do 40-show tours anymore, you can still play 10 shows run a year. I think Bruce doesn't ever want to fully close the door, which they would do with playing farewell tour (if they want to keep integrity).

I doubt they even made 200,000 copies of that box set
I came to say these words. I was going to phrase it differently like "I don't believe 200,000 copies of that boxset were manufactured." However, in light of Mosh's recent sentence quoted above, I've decided not to type all that out? What would be the use? It would take to long and I have to work.
