I wish I could post Hansen's solo in Iron Savior's cover of Neon Knights. (Unfortunately that song isn't on YouTube.)
Apart from that, there's a ton of material out there which can be put to the test. I dislike his unoriginal writings on the last couple of Gamma Ray albums, but his material before that is very powerful.
And as a guitar player, Hansen is very complete. Can play and write strong riffs and melodic lines, can play solos. Most metal guitarists are especially good in one thing. I love Hansen's melodic approach and he also possesses skill, plus he can play well in slow and fast pieces.
Like Hansen (and Sascha Paeth currently), Grapow was the best songwriter
and guitarist of Helloween when he was in the band. He is a riff master, and a great solo player as well. E.g. his riffs kill in
Push, and his solos are mostly very good. Less variety in his solos than Hansen, and at times you can hear Malmsteen in him, but his forceful attack in his playing really was a good thing for Helloween. And you gotta love his melodic and speedy qualities in
The Chance and
Someone's Crying.
