BEST BAND EVER: Results!

Well, I decided to listen to the whole of Nightfall In Middle Earth for the first time, and it almost clicked. Still a rather good album.

Voted for Hansi Kursch.

He has talent, no doubt, but also the most naturally cheesy and absurd tone in metal.
Don't know if I'd call it "absurd tone", but I think I know what you mean.
I'm not a big Blind Guardian fan (only have 2 albums of them in my collection, sold many records of different bands the past years) but I like his voice, it fits the music.

The Demons & Wizards concert I was at was probably the best ever non-Maiden concert I attended, and Hansi was a huge part of that.

Sanctuary was one of the most under-rated metal bands ever. I saw them two nights in a row in Buffalo and Rochester, NY January 1991. Warrel Dane had the flu. Sting sang better than the other three here. My neck was sore for days!

That said, he basically blew out his voice by 1992.

I know BG since Battalions Of Fear and my favorite album is Follow The Blind. After those they became a bit too mellow for my taste (still good but not my cup of tea). But back to your post: a) Kursch is one hell of a singer, period! - and this comes from someone that apart from a handful of albums detests Power Metal b) and now that I mention it IMO the majority of Nightfall is merely ok but Into The Storm??? OH MY GOD! Now THIS is how it's done!

3 amazing voices: Kusch, Skin and Warrel (RIP). I'll give my vote to Warrel as a tribute (and because such a skilled voice does not deserves to go unvoted).

I've been far from this poll but WHAT IS THIS HERESY?????

Eliminated after Round 86:
Michael Kiske

Promoted after Round 86:
Stevie Nicks

Stevie is a great vocalist... but Kiske??? Really?? The blasphemy...

I managed to like the first four, up to Somewhere Far Beyond, but not afterwards.
IMO the first two are really good (Follow the Blind is excellent). Nightfall also has its moments. Other than the quality is there but I don't know... it lacks something.

Perhaps if I'd discovered them earlier than Somewhere... I wouldn't care for it either, but that's the one that got me into them. The first two are the ones, indeed.
