BEST BAND EVER: Results!

I'm unfamiliar with all of these people except Stevie (who is important, but her goat-voice is not for me). Kiske is annoying, Swanö and Holmes are both quite versatile, but I think Swanö reaches for a lot of stuff that is just a little outside his wheelhouse. I'll throw another vote at Nick Holmes.

Dan Swanö gets my vote because of his versatility and general prowess at both clean and harsh vocals. Also, he is by far the best and most complete musician in this group.

Michael Kiske loses points for being an idiot, but I can't deny his longetivity (although that can be because he didn't sing live for ~20 years) and legendary performances from the 80's.

Nick Holmes is versatile, but I was never a big fan of his when he used to do solely clean vocals. Without the harsh vocals his style is very monotone.

I don't really care for, as MrK put it, Stevie's goat voice.

Eliminated after Round 86:

Michael Kiske
Nick Holmes

Promoted after Round 86:
Stevie Nicks

Anneke van Giersbergen (THE GATHERING, THE GENTLE STORM, VUUR)

Geoff Tate (QUEENSRŸCHE)

John Lennon (solo, THE BEATLES)

Rod Stewart (solo)

I have no bias in this round whatsoever.

- John Lennon is a package deal: he's a great songwriter (sometimes) for his voice, he's no amazing singer.
- Rod Stewart has a good voice, but it's pretty one-dimensional.
- Geoff Tate has an amazing range and technical prowess, but he has always sounded so forced and melodramatic to me.
- I do believe I have mentioned in the past that I've never been overly impressed with Anneke, despite thinking her voice is very good. This song may have changed my mind, simply because it's the first time I've heard her really stand out over heavy music. Worth exploring more of her stuff, for sure. Voting for Anneke.

I went into this thinking “I’m not going to vote for that wanker Tate” Stewart’s got a great gravelly rock voice, Van Geisbergen is a talent, even if her voice is a little thin, and John Lennon is an icon.

And then you went and hit me with Eyes of a Stranger.
