BEST BAND EVER: Results!

Total walkover for Myles. He deserves to go far in this tournament so no complaints from me.

I will, surprisingly, side with the Pablum Brigade and cast my vote for Chezza B. This is partly out of nostalgia as Linkin Park were very important for my musical development in my early teens, and also out of sympathy since he's getting such a kicking and he's fucking dead people. Have some fucking respect!

There's also a lot that Chester could do that Myles can't, but perhaps Chester wouldn't be able to do some of what Myles does. I suppose we'll never know that now. I'd actually lost interest in Linkin Park by the time I was 17 because I was listening to superior bands like Iron Maiden and Iced Earth by then. It's nice to hear bits of 'Hybrid Theory' and 'Meteora' now and then, but I listen to Alter Bridge a lot more and I will have no problem voting for Myles Kennedy in future rounds. Depending on who his opponent is of course.

1. Myles Kennedy - I have no choice in this matter and voted for Myles.

2. Mats Levén - I love his vocals even though the material with him on vocals is scarce. Very recognizable but also varied.

3. Chester Bennington - As most people here, Linkin Park was my intro to rock/metal, but I haven't heard anything past their first 2 albums. And one song from what I think was their 2nd to last album, maybe. Chester was a good vocalist, but I think his vocals only worked at that particular moment in time. When he got older it was awkward listening to him singing the angsty edgy lyrics of those albums.

4. Alissa White-Gluz - I wanted Angela but the invisible hand prevailed. Average vocalist if you ask me.

Eliminated after Round 85:
Alissa White-Gluz
Chester Bennington
Mats Levén

Promoted after Round 85:
Myles Kennedy

Dan Swanö (solo, EDGE OF SANITY, NIGHTINGALE, WITHERSCAPE)

Michael Kiske (HELLOWEEN)

Nick Holmes (BLOODBATH, PARADISE LOST)

Stevie Nicks (FLEETWOOD MAC)

Bonus song for Dan Swanö:

I picked the Witherscape song because it's more balanced vocally, but this is Dan's best song. He described this album as "if Rush played death metal in the 70s". Beautiful song if you ask me. He played all the instruments on this album and also produced it.

Heck, another selection with huge variety. I'm pretty sure I'll go for Nick Holmes, I love both his clean voice and growl, plus he's a great bloke.

Bias from the host for putting an extra song in for his favourite. Should be impartial!

I'll go with Stevie Nicks. She's the most pleasant one to listen to here, though I do appreciate Kiske's chops and Swanö's versatility. I like Swanö more as an all-around musician.

Stevie Nicks of course, though I’m sure the anti-female Euro bias will carry the day. :p

Holmes. More for distinctive voice and versatility of having both decent clean vocals and a good earthy growl, than technical ability.
