BEST BAND EVER: Results!

As the president of the anti-Tarja brigade it's a tough choice for me. I really dislike Tarja's operatic vocals. She's obviously very good at what she does, but I find it very irritating. And then we have the overrated, melodramatic Matt Barlow. I mean what is it about Barlow’s vocals that a lot of people really seems to love here? I get the melodrama, I can like that depending on the singer, but I don’t enjoy it from Barlow. Is there anything else that really makes him the master he’s been claimed to be? Barlow is overrated and Iced Earth are overhyped. His high notes feel rather thin to me, and while I can acknowledge the thickness and power of his lower range, I just don’t like it much, if at all. He's a competent singer, but competence does not make one stand out. Barlow is not a good vocalist. Or maybe he is and I just don't like his style. Well, disliking is too harsh, but I don't care for him.

And once more I apologize to all of MaidenFans for those posts when I first started listening to Iced Earth. Barlow is now a Top 5 vocalist for me and I have no idea why he didn’t instantly click with me. :facepalm:

Tarja sucks, Barlow rules.

If this was 2008 or so, Mikael wins easily. But he took so little care of his voice that he ruined his growling before he was even 35. So Floor it is. She didn't even reach her peak yet, and her rise started when Mikael already started falling.
 
Guys. I fucking love Opeth. I love Opeth far more than I will ever love Nightwish. I love Mikael's voice. His harmonies and ability to create astounding dynamics has been ludicrously influential on my life.

But being tied with Floor Jansen as a vocalist is just absurd.

I have absolutely no idea who those people are, but I've seen you mentioning Barlow now and then. Is he good?
