BEST BAND EVER: Results!

Absolutely sickening. Flea at #5?! What. The. Fuck?

Well, they eliminated Duane and Warren Haynes almost immediately and some actually voted against people who they'd never heard ('cause "I like the others enough" or something). That's about when I stopped caring, really.

I don't even care whether everyone actually managed to forget to nominate the likes of Noddy Holder or Dan McCafferty or whether I just missed their rounds. They'd still lose to Dio and Mercury and Floor Jansen, so I'd just be more pissed off, so...

Though I admit that the high placement of Moore, Blackmore, Butler etc. kinda alleviates that for me.

The Iommi win ... I dunno, I should probably like that (rather than Adrian Smith, I guess), but still... he can only churn out those riffs. And Akerfeldt can do those and solo at that. But Iommi is more a classic name, so I kinda get it.

Floor is the only Lucky Loser to go through so far, and she beat seed #6 on the way. Only one other Lucky Loser left in the game, and he will probably lose too.

I think that deep down, most people know that Owens has never really been on a good album, but only on either "I'm going to give this one a fair chance because I don't want to write this band off just because they changed singers"-type albums or in "I really hope this picks up because Owens has had a rough deal as a lead singer"-type projects.

That's not really something that's hidden deep down for me, it's pretty clear. He's a good singer who never had the material to utilize his talents, and I wouldn't keep him blameless for that. He's pretty much a glorified version of what he started as, a tribute band vocalist.

He's the ultimate square peg in a round hole. The guy has a lot of ability but never found his niche and fallen by the wayside. His career has managed to go full circle. He first made his name in a Judas Priest tribute band before joining the real thing with little success. His stint in Iced Earth didn't set the world on fire and since then he's meandered between his failed solo career and various other projects including a couple of small parts on an Avantasia album. Now his career has gone full circle and he's back where it all began - in a glorified Judas Priest tribute band with KK Downing. It is what it is, you know.

Neither. I just have a severely limited vocabulary.

Only voted Ripper because I’m not big on Mercury. Also The Gettysburg Trilogy I much more enjoy over anything Freddie put his voice on. Ripper isn’t the best but I really enjoyed what he was going for there and it’s hard to ruin one of Schaffer’s crowning achievements.

Again, Mercury just isn’t for me. It’s not a Barlow moment where I’m going “He’s not a good singer!” He is. Just not my type. But then Queen as a whole isn’t really my type either. I enjoy them depending on the song, but I don’t love them.

I see where you're coming from there, Diesel. Queen (in the Mercury days) served as the household name light entertainment family favourite type band my grandma would hum along to. I like some of their songs and can appreciate Mercury's voice, but overall I wouldn't say their style appeals.

I voted for Glenn Hughes because I can't stand Serj Tankain and System of a Down.

Freddie Mercury is the greatest ever Rock singer and frontman, but I can see why people aren't so keen on his voice. I grew up hearing Queen almost daily and there are some songs I think are really good but also some that suck. He should win this tournament but I voted Ripper just because I can and Freddie is through anyway.
