Accident of Birth is under threat. Come on everybody, let's save it another few rounds. It's really better than the least Maiden albums still out here. It does not have overlong choruses (AMOLAD), it does not have lesser guitar solos (Beast). It has one or two lesser songs (the Adrian penned tracks) but these are minor flaws on a beautiful melodic, atmospheric, dark and warm album full of variation.

  1. Ride the Lightning — Metallica
  2. A Matter of Life and Death
  3. Number of the Beast

Nah, it's time for AoB to go. It's too uneven, a couple really great songs and some filler mixed with a lot of songs that are just good and nothing more. Where Beast has lesser solos, it makes up for it with better songs. With metal, solos usually don't make or break a song for me.

That said, I'm voting for both.

Yes, you are one of the culprits. :)
As a whole album I find AOB very enthralling to listen to. More than the before mentioned ones, so I hope it survives a little longer.

I call upon everyone who agrees with me to follow this path.

AoB is one of the best albums Maiden never did for me, and going from the average track rating in my media library one of my highest albums overall ^^.

I've been voting AoB for a good while now. Very average album, a few really good tracks and a whole bunch of unremarkable filler.

I feel AMOLAD should be the next album to leave. It has a couple of great songs but overall the highlights are few and far between. Add to that that the album is unnecessary long which makes for a tedious listening experience. AoB while also slightly uneven makes up for this by having variety and uptempo tracks. This is not the case with AMOLAD with every track seamlessly trotting a long in the same pace for the entire album. Ride The Lightning and Number of The Beast is just high intensity and exceptionally enjoyable albums from start to finish so can't vote for them.

Only one album left that I don't absolutely love.
But there are seven I like better than the other seven.
Voting to protect those.

I think part of the tedious experience is the nearly constant pace of the songs. The album really needs a few "pick me up songs" in between the slow and plodding tracks but there is none of that. Some of it also has to do with the production I'm sure which in itself is slow and heavy...And I just don't find much thrill in listening to Out of The Shadows, For The Greater Good of God, The Reincarnation, The Pilgrim, The Legacy...There is no life in these songs to me, where is the energy? Then I listen to albums like NOTB or Ride The Lightning and I'm blown backwards. Those albums reek of energy and pure joy of playing :D

The Legacy is pretty good but I find it gets a bit boring after a while. For The Greater Good could have been better if they had slimmed it down. There is absolutely no reason for it to be so long and repetitive. The sing-a-long chorus For the Greater Good of God starts sounding a bit unnatural and strained to listen to after a while. Definitely not one of Maiden's best or most memorable choruses. IMO of course :) I'd rather listen to Invaders or The Prisoner!

The Legacy is epic. I get chills every time. AMOLAD is my second favorite Maiden a,bum, you probably won't see me voting for it.

AMOLAD
Accident
Chemical

The Greater Good, Legacy and Benjamin Breeg, also Lord of Light for its first heavy riff are songs that I have a lot of respect for. However, something from Maiden needs to be eliminated and this was the easiest choice.

Two eliminations last time: A Matter of Life and Death and Accident of Birth. The latter slides in as the number seven favourite Maidenfans non-Maiden album.

Twelve albums left, six of them Maiden.

Cracks starting to show in quite a few powerhouses.
Will Maidenfans call the Beast's number?
Or will voters shift to a new target?

I'm shifting — Wedding and Brave New World, in addition to my least favourite (but still epic) album up there: Ride the Lightning.
