A Matter of Life and Death still reached the top half in the Iron Maiden studio album rankings (7th out of 15).

Brave New World was crowned by Maidenfans as best album of the 21st century.

And we arrived at an interesting mile on the road: Half of the albums left are Maiden albums.

In the last 12 albums we're having:

6 Iron Maiden albums:
The Number of the Beast
Piece of Mind
Powerslave
Somewhere in Time
Seventh Son of a Seventh Son
Brave New World

6 non-Maiden albums, represented by 5 different acts.
Band with 2 albums:
Painkiller — Judas Priest
Screaming for Vengeance — Judas Priest

Bands with 1 album
Heaven and Hell — Black Sabbath
Moving Pictures — Rush
Chemical Wedding — Bruce Dickinson
Ride the Lightning — Metallica

Screaming Brave Number. Forgot about Screaming in this poll tbh. It's a very good album, but I'd put at least 4 Priest albums alone above this one.

I'm shifting — Wedding and Brave New World, in addition to my least favourite (but still epic) album up there: Ride the Lightning
+ The Number of the Beast

I find Brave New World less good than A Matter of Life and Death; Chemical Wedding less good than Accident of Birth. Beast should have gone some rounds earlier: least good Maiden album for quite some rounds already.

I was extremely doubting about Screaming for Vengeance and Ride the Lightning. I decided to compare track lists. Both albums have weaker songs but the amount of such is small: 2 and 1 respectively.Yes, I have advocated in the past against Screaming for Vengeance, and yes, I prefer quite some Priest albums. But for God's sake, we're talking about Priest! Next to Maiden, my favourite band! Their average work is still in league with the best work of others, even in this phase.

Heaven and Hell is another album that I don't want to see ending up higher than some others but the problem is that I am in the minority with that opinion, or at least it looks like that until now. Hardly anyone voted for it, so I wanted to use my vote for more effective purposes.
(Once we get to the final 10 it will be one vote only.)
I am mighty curious how that will go. When we arrive at the final 10, for the first time a real choice needs to be made between tactics (which may include sacrifice at times) and choosing the real least favourite one. Before this moment arrives, both forms of voting have been options, with more votes to cast.

+ The Number of the Beast

I find Brave New World less good than A Matter of Life and Death; Chemical Wedding less good than Accident of Birth.

Agreed on the first point. I always thought BNW gets a few extra points because the reunion was like water to a drowning man for so many people. Excellent album, but it's not better than Beast and it's time for it to go.
I just want to remind everyone that Beast has a certain track called Hallowed Be Thy Name.

I flipflop on the Wedding versus Accident debate; Wedding has higher highs and lower lows, IMO.

Beast, Vengeance, RTL

Trying to save CW, much better album than BNW IMO.

Wedding
Vengeance
BNW

Beast is not getting nearly enough love, either in this poll or on this forum generally. Sure, Gangland and Invaders aren't all-time great tracks, but neither are Quest for Fire, Sun and Steel, Back in the Village, or Heaven Can Wait.

And, as 'Dog points out: Hallowed Be Thy Fucking Name.

Anyone who thinks Chemical Wedding or Brave New World is better than NotB needs his/her head examined.

Agree wholeheartedly, but I can't give a like to a post that includes a vote against vengeance. ;-)

Both CW and BNW are better than NotB, and Hallowed is overrated. :D

Number of The Beast also has, besides the masterpiece that is Hallowed, The Prisoner, Children of The Damned ( Children of the Damned guys, Hello?, one of the best songs ever!) 666....The title track. Run To The Hills! And a song about saving a East End prostitute! Doesn't get much better than that. Oh and I love Invaders by the way...

I think people downrate it because it contains songs like RTTH and Number of The Beast that have become metal staples.

Fair enough. Can I pool my three votes and use them all against Chemical Wedding instead?

(Seriously, that would give these Survivor games an interesting twist.)
