The song itself has the right length. But that solo stops very suddenly, just when I felt the build-up was about half way. A few more bars wouldn't have hurt. Just my 2 cents.

TFF is better than it is being given credit for.
It's close, but SFV is my favourite Priest. But the debate is moot because we all know in the end Painkiller will be the last Priest album standing.

SFV is a close 2nd for me. I don't see myself voting for either anytime soon.

I had no plans to vote here but seeing you vote against six of the twelve albums I like made me change my mind!
Now we have 12 voters, so I guess your contribution was essential in saving three of these six (the ones with 5 votes).

Depth, melody, intellect and atmosphere chosen over raw and arrogant rock (said the one who's first hardrock/metal LP he ever bought was Appetite for Destruction :innocent: ).

OK. I can understand that. But even AOB and TCW have more votes. And Rising and Mindcrime and Sad Wings. That's just wrong.

I sense an Iron Maiden bias in this forum <_<

Really? :p

But yeah. Maiden, Sabbath, Priest, Blaze, Bruce Dickinson, Queensryche, Rush etc. No surprises there..

As for The Final Frontier. Since release most of the songs sort of slipped into oblivion for me and I have no urge or desire to listen to them again. if that is a fault with the album or my tastes I don't know - but the album doesn't really *do* anything for me, that's why it got my vote. I probably haven't listened to it in over two years now.

This current state doesn't say much about the eventual outcome yet.
When the amount of albums gets smaller, I expect we'll see more tactics involved (sudden changes).

Rising and Operation Mindcrime have enough lesser tracks to make them lesser albums.
Starstruck, Do You Close Your Eyes and A Light in the Black (very lengthy, with hardly any variation) are the meh factors on the former.

Anarchy-X, Speak, Spreading the Disease, The Mission, Suite Sister Mary (yuck, way too long, not very nice guest vocals), The Needle Lies & Electric Requiem is the long list of lesser songs on the latter.

Classics, but not the best albums we're having here.

The X-Factor is a fine ride from beginning til the end. I am not the biggest fan of the overly happy sounding Look for the Truth, and I can get annoyed by Blaze in one or two other songs, but these are short moments.

Sad Wings of Destiny. Now this is a special (also atmospheric!) album. It isn't my favourite 1970s Priest album, but I still find it difficult to compare it with Maiden. For now, that's OK, because I haven't voted for it yet (I don't have to; there are still other lesser albums around). But when the time comes, I need to decide.

*shakes hands with Saapanael* :edmetal:

I remember a summer holiday in France, in 1994. I had a few cassettes with me (for my walkman). Soon, it seemed that I only played one tape throughout the whole period: Side 1: Defenders of the Faith. Side 2: Painkiller.

The best combination.

Four excellent albums bite the dust, but we are in that portion of the game.
Of the albums that appear threatened, I will not be voting for British Steel or The Final Frontier.
British Steel was well-defended last thread, but TFF needs a plug.
Those of you who haven't listened to it in a while need to do so again: you will rediscover something.
There's not a bad track and a couple in the truly great category.

X Factor, Opera, Rising, Sin, Appetite, Destiny

Leaving now to wash my hands and find a confessional.

Accident of Birth
A Night at the Opera
Rising
Appetite for Destruction
British Steel
Screaming for Vengeance

Opera, Appetite, British Steel, Matter, Number.

Now at the stage where I basically know all the albums and can vote!

In the last 24 albums we're having:

9 Maiden albums:
8 Maiden w/Bruce albums (all 1980s + BNW, AMOLAD & TFF)
1 Maiden w/Blaze album (The X-Factor)

15 non-Maiden albums, represented by 9 different acts.
Band with 6 albums:
Painkiller — Judas Priest
Sad Wings of Destiny — Judas Priest
Screaming for Vengeance — Judas Priest
Sin After Sin — Judas Priest
British Steel — Judas Priest
Defenders of the Faith — Judas Priest

Band with 2 albums:
Chemical Wedding — Bruce Dickinson
Accident of Birth — Bruce Dickinson

Bands with 1 album
A Night at the Opera — Queen
Heaven and Hell — Black Sabbath
Moving Pictures — Rush
Operation Mindcrime — Queensryche
Rising — Rainbow
Ride the Lightning — Metallica
Appetite for Destruction — Guns and Roses

Insane that Queen is getting more votes than X Factor and the Dickinson albums. Insane. But not as insane as all Pink Floyd classic albums already being eliminated.
