What's boring about bloodstone? What's boring about Pain and Pleasure?

It's all subjective opinion. I like British Steel a lot but I also deem SFV Waaaaaaaay better. I honestly hate to see people use the term "boring" for music, what's boring to one is exciting to another.

What's boring about Metal Gods? What's boring about the excellent performance of Halford in The Rage? The rage can even be felt in his singing. What's boring about the riffing in Grinder?

Metal Gods : Nothing special straightforward hard rockish song.
The Rage : No creativity. The bass intro is just an intro that happens to be played by a bass, nothing special about the line itself.
Grinder : What riffing ? There's a riff that keeps on playing throughout the song and it's not a strong one either.

The album is too basic, too repetitive and boring. Sorry.

Metal Gods might sound straightforward to some, but it isn't 13 in a dozen. The riffing and the groove are quite a big deal if you ask me. The chorus may sound simple as well, but there's the groove I spoke of, and we get these lightning chord strikes (different ones, makes it less monotone), with that pulsating bass line and hi-hat underneath. :shred:

The Rage: no creativity? Come on. Quite a special bassline, because you can't predict how the following music goes. And it is special for Priest, because -if not mistaken- Ian Hill was only allowed to have a bass intro three times in the complete Priest discography. This was the first time.

Grinder has captivating and heavy riffs at the same time. I like the way how it goes lower in the chorus. And that bridge: Such heavy power chords rule. Love it. Unmatched, especially in those days.

And let's not forget Rob Halford. Listen to the way he does Rapid Fire. Supreme performance.

British Steel is a very appropriate name because its heavy metal sound was something new and it laid the foundation for many bands to come. A milestone in metal. A mighty influential record.

Foro, loving the defence of British Steel.
Simple ain't a bad thing when it is done so well.
And for my money, its the best sounding metal album of all time.

I agree there are better Priest albums than British Steel.

Voted against:
Killers
AoB
Mindcrime
Waves
Steel
TFF

At your service, Mckindog!

To be frank, it isn't my favourite either. But I prefer it over SFV, find it hard to compare with Sad Wings (need to make up my mind sooner or later). And not unimportant: I find it better than some non-Priest albums left in the game.

British Steel and Last In Line are great but it's time for them to go. Glad to see some love for Grinder though, I always that one wasa bit overrated. I definitely prefer the other Priest albums (besides Defenders). SFV is more up my alley for a metal album and the 1 2 punch of Sad Wings Of Destiny and Sin After Sin is tough to beat. All three albums have songs that I'd take over the whole British Steel and Defenders albums.

And that said, there's nothing personal against any album left. I would consider everyone left except Defenders (and probably British Steel) as part of my personal best album list.

TXF and TFF are close for me. Also the case with TXF and BNW, I might give BNW a slight edge. AMOLAD beats all of them though.

Not only beating TFF, TXF is doing really well. Final Frontier shouldn't have been getting this amount of votes though. I think people's conception regarding the quality of the album depends on how they like Mother of Mercy, The Talisman and The Man Who Would Be King. Especially Mother of Mercy. Some people don't seem to like it as much but it's my third favorite off the album.

Nah, I like all 3 of those songs. It's a great album but I have to vote for something.

I love Mother of Mercy. I know some people find Bruce sounding strained in the chorus but the song is so melodic. And it starts wonderful. The solo break is Sabbatish, with its pounding bass and chords. I wish it were a bit longer though.

I've listened through The Final Frontier only once (some songs twice or three times) and didn't enjoy it very much, possibly will listen to it again in the near future. I hope TXF gets as high as possible, definitely a masterpiece of an album, really hard to compare to BNW though.

I think it has perfect length. One of the best -relatively- short songs Maiden wrote after Reunion.
