Manavishnu Orchestra's music has a lot in common with rock, that's why they're still featured. Miles Davis' albums have been mentioned but mckindog decided to eliminate all non rock stuff from the game. Don't know if he'll eliminate Manavishnu stuff, though.

I personally think it is a little bit silly that Hybrid Theory is up there ,but you know that :p Same with Rammstein. For all I cared, Nickelback could be up there too when those two bands are, but that is just my own personal opinion :D
 
Nickelback is fucking horrible, on the same par with Justin Bieber, if you ask me.

The reason why I included Hybrid Theory is not just that I like it, but it really is an inspirational and important album. It may very well be the most influential rock album of 2000's. I believe it sold 25 million copies, being the best selling debut album of 2000's and also one of the best selling of all. It features pure, raw energy and some talent required stuff on it unlike other bands of their genre.

Rammstein is the only industrial metal band I like and Mutter is their magnum-opus.
 
Man you would be able to switch on MTV in 2001 and see these three music videos in sequence: "In The End", "How You Remind Me" & "Sonne"...I guess I am just fed up with those three bands. They are each at the most commercial end of the spectrum of their respective genres.
 
I'll tell you a story about me and "In the End". It was the year 2004. I was only eight years old and I certainly wasn't into music at all. I was watching a basketball game and a song would play on the highlights. My reaction was "Woah, that's a cool song". Nevertheless I didn't try to find the song nor did I the artist. In the year 2007 I became interested in music but only in hiphop and R&B. In 2008, an advertisement for a music festival in Turkey would be seen on TV with the same song I heard four years ago and it said "Linkin Park" as the artist. I searched for Linkin Park - In the End on YouTube, and thus became the first point of my introduction to rock. Hybrid Theory was the first album I heard in its entirety, and then Meteora. It wasn't until last year that I checked out later stuff by the band, though.

So I have to thank Linkin Park for my musical development since it eventually lead me to searching more metal, starting with the phrase "Iron Maiden" on YouTube in 2009.

In their prime, they played stadiums and were bigger than The Eagles.

And they sound more rock than jazz imo (actually there's hardly anything jazzy). Prog Rock fits very well. Instrumentation: Drums / bass guitar / guitar / keyboards / violin

So if I understand well, the albums on the list with 4 nominations (7 albums as we speak) are going through and the albums with 3 nominations on the list are not going through.

Hmm, most other solo material and projects by current members are present. So mckindog, did you forget about these? If you're not adding them, then I'll certainly nominate these two Samson album:

Samson - Head On (1980)
Samson - Shock Tactics (1981)

Head On is my favourite. Not an instant classic, I guess more people would like the more straightforward Shock Tactics, but I prefer this one. It has lots of variety, some nice hooky riffs and there’s a lot of weird stuff going on. Quite an adventurous mix of melodic and heavy stuff.
