Cool. I can start the Survivor tonight, if it's OK with you (since only me, Mosh and you would play it :)).

Sounds good! I'll re-listen to their debut today.

Re: Candlemass and Helloween: I like both bands, but with Candlemass, I haven't heard the entire album (hence why I didn't vote), and with Helloween, I really don't like Hansen and I only kinda like Kiske. That said, Keeper 1 is one of the best metal albums ever.

Perhaps you'll have a chance to play the second Candlemass album, Nightfall. I wish to nominate it when its era comes.

In case you won't have time for the whole album, pick at least the song At the Gallows End for the heck of it (stunning semi-ballad).

This was one my absolute favourites in late 80s.. THANKS for reminding me Foro!!

Tons of head-banging with that one :rocker:

Candlemass, Jugulator >>>>> Led Zeppelin :p
You need your head examined!!:D

Actually, the results of this game are (so far) trending to some defensible results. Crap like Candlemass, WASP, Turbo and Jugulator are going down, as are legitimately great albums (like Physical Graffiti) that aren't some members' cup of tea. But what is left standing is pretty fucking strong: Priest's good albums, Rush, Queen, Floyd, Sabbath -- even Mob Rules is hangin' in there! Individual voting can be crazy, but the end results are not. As it should be.

Oh, and +1 for Divine Wings of Tragedy. Symphony X is really good. Thought about nominating it myself.

EDIT: Can't I get another +1 for OK Computer?!! Not only should it be part of the survey, but given the other choices from that era, it should probably go through to the finals!

You got a point there. It's obvious though, that most of people here haven't give a serious chance to Led Zep, Beatles and whichever other diamond went down. It's the general trend. The discovery of America in 2013, the reinvention of wheel; My path was identical, first Floyd, then Queen, a bit of King Crimson, Rush in parallel..

They'll discover them though, sooner or later. And they will laugh -or at least smile- with their choices of today. But then, 15 years from now, some other young full of life people they gonna claim the same things they are claiming now and freaking us out!!

And round and round we go!!

Again, never understood the dislike people on this forum have for Zeppelin. And while I had no qualms about Led Zeppelin II going down -- it is indeed a bunch of recycled blues tunes -- Physical Graffiti and Presence are masterpieces. Plus, for someone who names himself after a place in Tolkien's books, I'm surprised you [Forostar] have so little respect for the band that put Tolkien on the rock-n-roll map!

Personally, I've never understood the like people on this forum have for Zeppelin.

All it is is just different perceptions, different tastes. I don't find it anything special myself, I think a lot of people get caught up in the "It started a..." or "It was the first of..." when it comes to a lot of music (or media in general). Being the first doesn't make it amazing on its own etc (not saying thats why people like it, just something that tends to be overused as a reason). It just doesn't 'do anything for me' I guess. Similar for the Beatles with me, I don't care how amazingly popular they were or how good it was in terms of the music of its time, when looked at against the entirity of music history it's... well, it's nothing special.

That's my take on it, no one has to agree and I'm not asking anyone to. I just don't find it anything special myself, just as no one else finds WASP anything special but I connect to it quite well :)

If this Survivor was on a larger forum that had users with a more general, different and broader musical taste ( though I will say I am generally impressed by the taste here) the Beatles and possibly also Led Zeppelin would have gone a lot further, perhaps all the way. The fact that this is a metal forum and an Iron Maiden forum has a lot to say really ;)

Also people who just brushes off The Beatles as "nothing special" they are not actually listening or don't care for song and craftsmanship in their music, or perhaps they don't know that The Beatles wrote songs after "Twist and Shout" and "Love Me Do". That is just my opinion though :)

Ramble On —
And in the darkest depths of Mordor, I met girl so fair
But Gollum and the evil one, crept up and slipped away with her
Also Misty Mountain Hop, and I think there are one or two others

Also who doesn't like Immigrant Song? It is like the 70s version of Invaders
