Well, look at the list. What do you expect? All albums listed here are major in rock history. All of them are influential. Still, nearly all of them have to go at a certain stage. We have to vote for something, after all. :)

I've heard three of those several times (since I agree 100% with you that you should never give up on a band/album/song after only one listen). Maybe I'll try again later, but I just remember being so impressed by how unimpressed I was. It's strange because they're the kind of band where it feels like you should like them, but there's just something in the way.

Mckindog, why do you dislike James's vocals? I honestly have no idea why they bother me so much (to a point where even a song I might like can be ruined). I mean, he's an extraordinary singer and he sounds exactly like every other metal singer of that caliber (and I love singers of that caliber).

The best word I can come up with is he sounds callow, which is ridiculous since he's been singing for decades, but that's how I react.
He can sing, but not in a way that moves me. I'm just not buying what he's selling.

As expected, 2009-2012 was the worst era. None of the nominated albums is going to make it.
Most, if not all albums from this period will be trashed by earlier favourites. At least, I don't expect any of them to get far, even not the one by His Holiness.

I'd nominate more albums but I see no point in doing that cause most people here would rather choose a 70's than a 00's album... :grumble:

It depends on what will be left at the end. I'd take Tyranny of Souls anytime over anything by King Crimson.

You guys may have missed this, but I seconded Endgame, Th1rt3en and A Dramatic Turn of Events back on page 3.

I stand corrected. We've got an album in!

EDIT: check later list(s), the one in this post is outdated!

Another problem I have with DT is that I irrationally dislike James LaBrie's voice. :p

I'm not particularly fond of Cheese Labrie either. His voice tends to be a little too shrill and I don't feel the emotion of the songs....I'm sure he is very talented though and it is not a deal breaker for me.

I'm not a big fan of Cheese either. He has his moments but his voice didn't really survive the 90's. He's often painfully out of tune. I'd love to hear DT with a singer like Russell Allen.

I, too, am not too fond of James LaBrie's voice. He's okay, though. But his performance on Awake is astonishing.

He sounds okay in studio. I actually like his voice on FII, it's controlled and doesn't venture into the high register much.
