Phase 1, Round 14 Results:
It's A Sin and Twist & Shout are promoted; 22 Acacia Avenue, Smokin' In The Boys Room and Over The Hills & Far Away are eliminated.

Phase 1, Round 15:

First two songs are battling for the top spot from the last round since the tie wasn't broken <_< So vote for 1 of those 2 along with 1 or 2 from the regular round :)

Two great songs that were done better by the original bands.
I miss Phil lynott.

And Nirvana gets my vote.

It's A Sin >>>>> Twist & Shout.

Perfect Strangers
As good as the original. It doesn't really change much except adding more metal compared to the original but it's a perfect cover in every way. Too bad Jorn is only good for covers. Gets my 1st vote.

Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This)
I used to love this cover when I first heard it 10ish years ago. But now... vocals are quite monotone and music is nowhere near the awesomeness of the original. His Tainted Love cover is way better than this.

Cold Sweat
Lacks energy and Mustaine sounds constipated. Doesn't help that the original itself isn't anything special.

The Man Who Sold The World
Never heard the original but this cover is amazing... actually didn't even know this was a cover until it was suggested for this game. Whole Unplugged concert is awesome anyway. Gets my 2nd vote.

Riding With The Angels
Never heard the original. This one sounds okay, but it's not really memorable. Vocalist is absolutely awful, he should just give up singing IMO ( :P ).

Phase 1, Round 15 Results:
The Man Who Sold The World and Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This) are promoted; Perfect Strangers, Cold Sweat and Riding With The Angels are eliminated.

Phase 1, Round 16:

Faith No More's singer is fucking annoying.

Foo Fighters' cover takes a great song and makes it their own. VOTE 1

Kiss is awful. Period.

Almost voted for Quiet Riot, as it was far and away a more important and popular song than the original. Then I remembered that I don't like either version very much, and the singer (RIP) was a twerp.

Talking Heads gets my VOTE 2 because it actually has soul, and the cover employs a sexier groove than Rev. Green's original. It is, however, about 90 seconds too long.

Kiss and Foo Fighters. I hate both bands pretty much equally, but this time around they sounded the best to me.

The singer of FNM might be Mike Patton, but even he has better and worse eras - and his first album with FNM is pretty much unlistenable. It sounds like teenage Harry Potter sodomising a goat (you could take it for a brilliant parody of Radcliffe's Equus then, were it not for the fact the album's much older). This here live version is somewhat better, but the cover is still tired and completely unnecessary. I mean, do you really need Sabbath covered by FNM? Why?
(BTW, Patton made the first painful rhyme - masses / masses - sound probably even stupider. How he managed to do that, I'll never know.)

More and more I realise my days as a Faith No More fan are definitely over. Patton, especially - he used to be my hero, now he just annoys me.

War Pigs
I like this one almost as much as the original because it has insane energy and Mike Bordin is killing it on the drums. Honestly they should've gotten him to replace Bill Ward instead of that guy from Ozzy's band. 1st vote goes here.

Baker Street
Original is a cool song. Advantage of this cover over the original is that there's no saxophone :p Disadvantage is that it sounds like a demo. Could've been so much better.

God Gave Rock 'N' Roll To You II
I kinda prefer the version from Bill & Ted movie with Steve Vai guitar intro, but this is also cool enough to get my 2nd vote :p

Cum On Feel The Noize
Never heard the original... Chorus is kinda cheesy but the song is pretty cool nevertheless... Too bad it had a tough group, would've voted for it over some stuff that got promoted.

Take Me To The River
Never heard the original. This cover wasn't really memorable.

The other oldsters on here have to remember just how huge Noize was in North America.
Forgot how catchy the solo was.

And Baker Street cool version of a cool song.
