Album rankings per person

It's a natural tool for smoothing out the peaks & troughs of an average.

It was a tie otherwise. Just a further tool for teasing out a gap between them & establishing an order. I could just as easily have just picked one over the other.

I don't think the second list matters either; just sharing it.
 
It still is interesting. I'm curous how well some albums would fare without the biggest "stinkers", although at the same time it doesn't feel that fair, since they are part of it.

I'll do this too but what if an album has more than one song with the same lowest score (same for highest)? How does it exactly work?
 
You just take out the highest & lowest, regardless of whether there are multiple tracks with the same rating. You can probably see how it works by looking at a few of mine. It basically smooths over tracks that are either totally dragging an album down or elevating it beyond the average. The equivalent of saying this album is really good apart from; and this album is okay except one stunning track. You get the idea. Really consistent albums (aMoLaD for me) are relatively unaffected.

Piece Of Mind and The Number Of The Beast weren't actually tied, their scores were just rounded off for the list. On the other hand, The Final Frontier and No Prayer For The Dying really were exactly tied, so I broke the tie by giving the edge to the highest scoring individual songs on The Final Frontier.

My top 3 and bottom 4 albums weren't a surprise, since my views on them have been quite stable over time. Some things that did surprise me were:
  • Dance Of Death placing so low.
  • The Final Frontier placing as high as it did.
  • Brave New World placing higher than No Prayer For The Dying.
  • Somewhere In Time coming in above Piece Of Mind and The Number Of The Beast.
  • Seventh Son more than doubling the average rating of Virtual XI.

You mean: take out one song that is the highest and one song that is the lowest, right (if there are multiple tracks with same rating)? So e.g.:
