The two countries met seven times earlier, but never on a World Cup. Engeland won 4 times, Croatia 2 times. On the 2004 European Championship, England won in the group: 4-2.

After 1966 and 1990 this is the third time that England plays a semi-final, 17 of the 23 players were not born last time.

Croatia once stood in the semi-finals, at their World Cup debut in 1998. Then they lost to France.

In this World Cup Croatia won two duels with penalties. Never ever a country played three penalty series on one World Cup. Who knows ...

More realistically, the English team -though not spectacular- does seem quite resourceful, while playing an even uglier football than the French team... I truly don't know at this point who will win.
