2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia (Maidenfans WC Pool inside)

And this is one of the things I hate most about the World Cup. Let's play like we don't care.

Tickets for these matches must cost in excess of £100 and then some of the best players in the world do that. The fans were making their displeasure known throughout the match and who can blame them?

I don't blame the fans one bit. I also have trouble blaming the players and the coaches. The system rewards that style of play.

It would be nice if the winner of the round got a bye to the round of 16, and there was a playoff for the other eight spaces. That would be pretty easy to do once the WC goes to 48 teams, and would give teams something to play for in the otherwise "nothing" matches.

Fortunately, tonight's matches have a different setting. Iceland must win to go through, against a team that is probably thinking about the round of 16 already. Make no mistake, Croatia is a strong team - but Iceland equaled them in the qualification group. One win each.

Argentina must win against Nigeria, but they must also better Iceland's result against Croatia. If Iceland wins 2-1 and Argentina wins 1-0, Iceland will go through.

So for Argentina to advance, they must win and Iceland must not win.

If Argentina goes out, how many riots do you think there will be? My guess in spoilers:

All the riots.

The Serbian FA was fined SFr54,000 (£41,217) for the behaviour of fans during the game - the display of discriminatory banners and the throwing of objects.

Fifa fined Xhaka and Shaqiri 10,000 Swiss francs (£7,632) and Lichtsteiner SFr5,000 (£3,816) for "unsporting behaviour" for the gesture, which symbolises the Albanian flag.

Serbian Football Association president Slavisa Kokeza and Serbia head coach Mladen Krstajic were each fined SFr5,000 for their comments after Friday's 2-1 defeat. Kokeza gave an interview to the BBC in which he accused Fifa, football's world governing body, of bias against his country.
