2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia (Maidenfans WC Pool inside)

In Iran woman have to wear a hijab and cannot attend football matches. They are, however, permitted to leave the country to watch their country play football in the World Cup:

And isn't she gorgeous? Take a look at her ID badge: she's taken her hijab off as Russia, while also a very backwards country in many regards, doesn't dictate how women should dress or ban them from attending football matches. Come on Iran, your women are beautiful. Let them show it. It's a shame that the Iranians will have to go home to their backward-ass, oppressive government. Couldn't Portugal have done them a favour and conceded another goal on human rights grounds?

So, France and Denmark can decide on a draw and they both go through no matter what Australia does.
It would be a risk for Denmark though. What if, with the scores equal and the match entering injury time, France is awarded a penalty? They're hardly going to miss it on purpose just to be nice.

But of course, neither team will feel the need to risk a lot for a win, so the game has the potential to be very dull. Australia on the other hand, must win - and Peru are better than 0 points would indicate, so that match has real entertainment potential.

I'd love to see some Australian power and passion tomorrow but they are very, very dependent on the other match. It could be a sad afternoon, all in vein.

In the evening the other group could be more suspenseful.

That type of nose doesn't even look appealing to me, no clue why it's the one people want. Nose surgeries should only happen if you have a disastrous looking one.

I just watched the highlight of Spain vs. Morocco and the Spanish defence was indeed terrible. Morocco looked excellent and were extremely unlucky in the end with Liverpool legend Iago Aspas scoring the equalizer. Correct VAR decision to award the goal though. There was that second one-one-one with de Gea which I think the Moroccan player should have scored. He had one touch which was too heavy and when he went to shoot he was too close to de Gea and it was an easy save. If he'd taken a softer touch before shooting then the angle would've been wider or de Gea might've come off his line. But what do I know?

I reckon Spain will be strong enough in midfield and in attack to overcome Russia, although Russia might make them sweat. Spain's deficiencies in defence have been exposed in all three group games and if they don't shore up then some direct counter-attacking play and using the big man up front could leave Spain exposed. Russia looked pretty weak in defence today themselves, so I reckon Spain will punish them too. Nil-nil draw confirmed.

Uruguay haven't conceded a goal yet which might prove a daunting task for Portugal, but Uruguay didn't exactly have stellar opposition in group A. Portugal were left exposed several times by Iran, who are not a great footballing nation, and if Suarez/Cavani can keep firing then they'll have a great chance against Portugal.

Tomorrow evening may see the end of Argentina for another four years, and perhaps Lionel Messi as an Argentina player, or we could see a stirring comeback led by Messi for Argentina to sneak into the second round.

Update time! And yes, this includes teams that have already advanced:

29 - Saap
27 - Shadow, Wiz
26 - Flash, LC
23 - NP
22 - Ariana, Perun
21 - Niall
20 - Foro

Playing this game at home as well. The fact that my mom, who has probably seen a total of five football matches in full since the 90s is tied with me, a person who rigorously follows the game, tells you two things:

Times change, but good teams remain the same. Only a few curveballs here and there.

Prediction is an entirely different animal than analysis.

DEN-FRA is exactly as dull and void of energy as I expected. Maybe Denmark will take more chances now that they know that Australia are 1-0 down, and have half time to alter their strategy.

Good goal by Peru btw.
