News 18th Studio Album discussion

Thanks for the info. I think iits normal that the first albums were more songs played because rhey didnt have enougjh songs for a show apart if they played covers. But some of the % included songs played just 1 or 2 times not the full tour.
Oh, absolutely. Some songs like The Loneliness Of The Long Distance Runner, Back In The Village or Don't Look To The Eyes Of A Stranger were only played one or two times before being dropped. Other songs were played on one leg of a tour and the dropped.

It would also be interesting to look at the length of a song and determine how much of an album was played. Empire Of The Clouds for example is only 9% of the album if we look at number of songs, since it's just one song out of 11. But if we look at the actual duration, its 18 minutes are almost 20% of the 92 minutes of the album.

Maybe if I'm bored at work and there's not much to do, I'll do that next time :D

What i mean that 70% of Sj was played as a regular basis during both "senjutsu touf" if somehow was a sj tour lol. Wich is next to AMOLAD levels. The 80s album since NOTB i think have 8-9 songs? Because of the cassette lol. Then cd was invented and then we have more songs

Not really. You had 3 songs played on the 2022 leg of the Legacy of the Beast tour (i.e., 30% of the album being played), and then 5 played on the 2023/2024 The Future Past tour (i.e., 50% of the album). Iron Maiden played 100% of AMOLAD on the corresponding tour.

There were no really sj tour but 2022 lotb tour was like the promotion of the new album and then FPT was like the real tour but not olaying 2 of thr most important songs of the album the titletrack and rhe single. 2022 was a big tour after covid.

I think song length absolutely contributed to TFF having only 5 played, Talisman and WTWWB are 20 mins combined or about the equivalent of 4 songs on earlier albums.

Any plans to start work on a new Maiden album?

Bruce:
“Would I like to do a new Iron Maiden album now? Yes. Would I like to do one starting next year? Yes. So over to you, Steve.”

Steve: “No. We haven’t had a band discussion about it yet. I know Bruce wants to do one. He said in an interview that I didn’t want to do one, which is not true. When he told me about it, I just said, ‘Yeah, maybe, we’ll see.’ At the moment it’s more important that we focus on playing live. Plus, Bruce is doing stuff with his solo project next year, so we’ll see.

Are there really people here who think it's possible that Steve would answer a question like that by saying, “Yes, I agree, let's start working on the album next year” (regardless of what was really discussed and decided internally)?

I think the album is happening. Bruce intentionally left a gap from January to end of May next year and it seems that he has been working on Steve during the course of the tour (this interview was in Bulgaria) to get them in the studio early next year.

I think i said that before lol. My though was bruce hammering the rest of the band to record and album. Here he is.there will be an iron maiden album .

It seems Steve doesn’t want to say Yes to a new album knowing it may take attention away from the tour. But it sounds like it will happen, which is great news.
Im sure bruce has spoken with the rest of the band maybe they havent sit all together but if bruce is like this we will have another album

I like Bruce' enthusiasm, I'm sure Adrian and Janick are on the same page. Steve honestly seems to be less inspired and is enough satisfied with SJ as last album. I hope Bruce will convince Steve into writing. But with this Steve' attitude - next album could really be their last as Steve even sad in Burning Ambition that they'll tour into infinity - no mention of new music. They have 160+ songs so they can basically play 10 tours without repeating a song.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure a setlist like this would draw hordes of new fans:

Wildest Dreams
The Angel and the Gambler
When Two Worlds Collide
Fear is the Key
The Assassin
Wasting Love
Lighting Strikes Twice
Chains of Misery
Quest for Fire
2 A.M.
Face in the Sand
Age of Innocence
Iron Maiden

Don't Look to the Eyes of a Stranger
Nodding Donkey Blues
The Apparition

THE CHAINS OF MISERY WORLD TOUR 2028

That billing would convince everyone.

From that interview...

Steve: “I think it’ll be an event. There’s the exhibition [the Infinite Dreams Experience]. And we’ve talked about different things relating to the songs, which I don’t want to give too much away about. But it’s the same old thing – you talk about stuff, and then you have to actually put it into practice. You just hope it’s all going to work out. It usually does, but you never know, haha.’

My theory/dream that they will do Running Free at Knebworth with special guests is alive and well, yee haw!

Get rid of the FotD stuff and Gimme that. Possibly change one of the FotD tracks with Wrathchild.
