News 18th Studio Album discussion

Thanks for the info. I think iits normal that the first albums were more songs played because rhey didnt have enougjh songs for a show apart if they played covers. But some of the % included songs played just 1 or 2 times not the full tour.
Oh, absolutely. Some songs like The Loneliness Of The Long Distance Runner, Back In The Village or Don't Look To The Eyes Of A Stranger were only played one or two times before being dropped. Other songs were played on one leg of a tour and the dropped.

It would also be interesting to look at the length of a song and determine how much of an album was played. Empire Of The Clouds for example is only 9% of the album if we look at number of songs, since it's just one song out of 11. But if we look at the actual duration, its 18 minutes are almost 20% of the 92 minutes of the album.

Maybe if I'm bored at work and there's not much to do, I'll do that next time :D

What i mean that 70% of Sj was played as a regular basis during both "senjutsu touf" if somehow was a sj tour lol. Wich is next to AMOLAD levels. The 80s album since NOTB i think have 8-9 songs? Because of the cassette lol. Then cd was invented and then we have more songs

Not really. You had 3 songs played on the 2022 leg of the Legacy of the Beast tour (i.e., 30% of the album being played), and then 5 played on the 2023/2024 The Future Past tour (i.e., 50% of the album). Iron Maiden played 100% of AMOLAD on the corresponding tour.

There were no really sj tour but 2022 lotb tour was like the promotion of the new album and then FPT was like the real tour but not olaying 2 of thr most important songs of the album the titletrack and rhe single. 2022 was a big tour after covid.

I think song length absolutely contributed to TFF having only 5 played, Talisman and WTWWB are 20 mins combined or about the equivalent of 4 songs on earlier albums.

Any plans to start work on a new Maiden album?

Bruce:
“Would I like to do a new Iron Maiden album now? Yes. Would I like to do one starting next year? Yes. So over to you, Steve.”

Steve: “No. We haven’t had a band discussion about it yet. I know Bruce wants to do one. He said in an interview that I didn’t want to do one, which is not true. When he told me about it, I just said, ‘Yeah, maybe, we’ll see.’ At the moment it’s more important that we focus on playing live. Plus, Bruce is doing stuff with his solo project next year, so we’ll see.

Are there really people here who think it's possible that Steve would answer a question like that by saying, “Yes, I agree, let's start working on the album next year” (regardless of what was really discussed and decided internally)?
