I was thinking...

if Simon tunes his drum kit in the studio the way it sound live now (not the cymbals though), it would probably be one of my favorite drum sounds on an album. The fatter sound would give a kick boost in the studio sound, methinks. Kind of like En Vivo! drum sound, I love it and I think it's the best one, even stronger than RIR. Btw, the Knebworth 2014 official live clips are worth mentioning in this regard.

I doubt many if any fans would bother showing up outside Guillame Tell studio. Maiden aren't exactly Taylor Swift altough the fanbase is quite similar.

That's incredibly naive. Of course there would be fans who would think it was a “brilliant” idea to be close to the band during the recording sessions and maybe meet them.
I've read complaints on forums/groups for much less popular metal bands that the band didn't come out to the fans waiting outside during the studio recordings to take photos and sign autographs.

But I'm sure Iron Maiden (the management) aren't so naive as to not know that.
