Well that’s a stupid reply as you’re quite right, if he decides he doesn’t feel like singing anymore then he shouldn’t.

If a band doesn’t feel like making an album then they shouldn’t. It’s not up to the fans to decide what a band does or doesn’t do.

Bands don’t owe their fans anything but a section of fans think because they buy an album and a ticket to see them live that somehow gives them the right to tell a band what they should and shouldn’t do, it doesn’t.

After watching Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein, I’d absolutely love for Steve to write an epic song about it on the possible upcoming album—about a man and a monster, where the real monster isn’t who everyone thinks it is. Something in the vein of Rime of the Ancient Mariner: chugging rhythm, long harmonized guitar parts, a lightning-filled interlude in the middle, and a crescendo ending. Bruce could even imitate the Creature’s scream and growl. And the lyrics should follow a “show, don’t tell” style—more Rime of the Ancient Mariner, less The Time Machine. That would be tremendous..

The reality is that BNW got bashed by the fans for it's production at the time. People who became fans around that time, and have that album as their reference point for Maiden as a result, see it differently today. But at the time it was released, the big problem people had with it was the production.

I was active on usenet when BNW came out and a fan long before that. At the time I remember wishing that the production on BNW was fuller with more low end. By the time DOD came out, I liked the fuller, more low end production better, but still preferred the songs of BNW.

Flash forward to modern day, BNW's production has grown on me and I don't have a problem with it anymore.
 
Yeah, BNW production for me was always a little bit iffy. Songs & album was great but, to me, it always sounded thin. To this day I'm not a big fan - DoD & A matter of life and death is much better in that area.
 
I'm a little surprised to hear people had an issue with the production of BNW. I thought it was great, especially the drums. The only real complaint I have is I don't feel like all three guitars are utilized. To each their own I guess.

Haven’t seen it yet but yeah, it’s a very “Steve” topic. Could name the song “Man and Monster”. Make it maybe 12-13 mins long and filled with catchiness but with a bit of a dark melody. Also can be a reflection on what mankind has done to the world (similar to Hell on Earth)
