Many older people, who have lived most of their lives under Soviet rule, speak very little English. You'd be better off speaking Russian then.
 
Why, let me say it again, I still respect you, when all is said and done - usually the guy who never asked a chick out kinda implodes, turns to online "pick-up artists" and try to learn the exact code how to collect "achievements", including all the obnoxious side effects - "masculine" pheromone cologne, "subtly insulting" the girl, mirroring her movements and presenting themselves as the biggest prize of them all, all while trying to look the appropriate amount of disinterested. Glad you didn't do that either.
 
That is a phenomenon that is becoming more and more prominent, Judas, well described. The thing about it is that most women can easily see through the act, and men who try it are so convinced that it'll work that they become further frustrated.

It also doesn't help that these online communities glorify violent, abusive and manipulative behavior and create a sense of comraderie among people who glorify such behavior. It's a problem that the general public may hear more about in the coming years, I'm afraid.

Some years down the line, when a "pickup artist" has lost his sexual appeal and finds himself alone and incapable of forming a lasting relationship that gives meaning to his life, that's when he gets what's coming for him. All the BS of being an alpha male having figured out primal attraction strategies will come flying in his face. Even if he may still be physically attractive, there's just something pathetic about a 40 year old who still behaves like he's 22, chatting up chicks at the bar.
 
Not only that, but I think a person who forms relationships by "finding the weaknesses" of women and "mastering the art of manipulation" is doomed to have fulfillment issues ultimately. Probably long before they reach an older age.

To my Finnish eyes, those pickup artists seem very strange. I don't know if young ladies nowadays are into that kind of thing, and I'm too old for those "artists" anyway, but it hasn't been the norm here to chat to anyone you don't know on the street. I guess most women just find it creepy.
