News 18th Studio Album discussion

Release the album late 2027, say around Oct followed by the announcement of a tour in 2028. The tour should then be another hybrid tour like the future past. 5 songs from the new album, 5 from whatever album they decide to go with (piece of mind would be a good choice as it’s the 45th anniversary in 2028) and then a few other classics. This way they get the best of both worlds without having to do a 2/3 year album only tour then another greatest hits tour which they might be too old for by then.
I like this idea. It would be cool to hear Dune and Still Life live again

If they don’t record and release an album next year we won’t ever get one. All we’ll get is one last tour starting in 2028 with another greatest hits set based on whatever theme they can come up with.
I see no point in excluding an album later, like "if not in 2027, there'll never be one". Sabbath came up with a big surprise named "13" when nobody expected it, and I don't know why Maiden wouldn't do something like that. They don't need to dissolve. They can be on standby, taking all the pressure out of their existence as a group - and come up later with anything they want at whatever time they want.

...lacking a better option, Steve will eventually go along with it—
He could do a bigger tour with BL, but he said Maiden always comes first.
Someone mentioned in 2021 when Senjutsu was coming out how gaps were 3-4-5-6 years and mentions how next album will come out in 2028. I was thinking like "no way they'll wait 7 years to put out just one more album", but now it seems really real. I still think it has bigger chance to come out in 2027 cause since BNW all albums came out in second half of the year, so from july until december is most likely to come out in my opinion. That way tour will be perhaps early 2028.
Good call. The album and tour could also be announced at the end of 2027 after the tour, for a March 2028 release and a tour starting in May/June. Why not, some time for promo too.
Or maybe an album full of ‘Wrathchilds,’ ‘Killers,’ ‘Troopers,’ ‘Aces,’ and ‘Rimes’? Now that’s what I’d call a dream come true.
It's curious if Simon will get them to write more short and faster rockers.
If we are going to get another album then it really needs to be written and recorded early 2027. If they can get it done within the first 3/4 months then those that want to spend time with their families can go off and do that and Bruce and Adrian have some time to spend with their other musical projects.
This.

Hybrid tour is probably likely and the best idea, they don't have ideas for History tours (since they don't want to do for the 90s). POM is an option, why not BNW (plus the new album it would be like a Reunion celebration in a way). Others? Not sure.
A hybrid tour won't be more than 2 years, the current tour could have had a 3rd short leg according to Steve, but it wouldn't have been Part 2 most likely.
I see no point in excluding an album later...
Agreed, but if not by 2028 at the latest...
A little prediction contest idea:
If there is a new album, what would the Eddie/artwork theme be?
It's hard to say after all these years, maybe another warrior? Something nautical theme?
3 of the Reunion covers have other characters on them, but if they go with less details (please no dark background) again. The thing is, they could make simple backgrounds with something on them, just one dominant color and no additional details.

Yeah I did think Steves recent interview where he said:

"It seems like next year Maiden are not going to do, if anything… anything at all."

That he might have been about to say "not going to do any live shows/touring" but caught himself to not give away the possibility of going into the studio. But that could just be me being overly optimistic. They definitely could record and release in 2027 as they've done previously and then announce a tour for 2028.
Very well noted, I want to believe that.

Okay, hear me out: No Prayer was left out of RFYL INTENTIONALLY. Why? Hybrid tour in '28 primarily comprised of songs from the new album and to celebrate the enduring classic and fan-favorite that is No Prayer for the Dying. Opens with Tailgunner and closes with Aces High, because the fans demand it. :dancinggeek:

I like hybrid tour idea, but honestly, 80s material was overused as a main theme. I love 80s material, but cmon, again? GMETID - rare songs from mainly 80s theme (and wildest dreams but nvm), ERU - first 4 albums, (if we count AMOLAB for AMOLAD and TNOTB ), SBIT - Powerslave mainly, SIT and SSOASS secondary, 80s overall, ME - SSOASS, LOTB - 80s (11/16 songs of the set) and rare ones, TFP - SIT and SJ. I like 80s overall, but give room for other 9 albums to shine. 2028 will be 25th of DOD for example, bring that set and idea back, dance of death and paschendale would look amazing in all new production and so on.

Oh, please not Paschendale. Album version is brilliant, but it didn't work out live in 2003/04. Low chances it will now.

Somewhere I saw a coincidence (or not?) how Iron maiden - Killers are similar to The book of souls - Senjutsu (1st one just Eddie staring at us , 2nd one Eddie holding a weapon) and all that after 15 albums which Steve wanted to do - so like a new beginning. So we could expect 2 creatures on cover? I don't buy that, but I think new Eddie would be futuristic looking, like SIT Eddie for example but more robotic and like from future, bit also reference to an original Eddie somehow. That would be cool for a final album.

I said it before but i think the next tour will be a set list for the fans, i mean the 50 aniversary should be too but its too for casuals. But the next tour should be like the future past tour. If you check the setlist even now is crazy.

Next time if they tour again, they should include more 90’s and 2000’s era songs plus songs from eventually new album and just a few must have from the 80’s. They have used EVERYTHING they can with the 80’s now..
Be quick or be dead has to be played again, infinite dreams, still life, and from 90s maybe another blaze song unplayed with bruce would be cool to,and songs from the post reunion albums. Thats because i think would be a tour for the "die hard" fans. But if you fill pavilions in usa with the future past tour you can play that too.
