They are probably testing the equipment and would shortly begin recording the album (booking the studio costs a significant amount of money).

My money is on them busting out the album in about 5 or 6 weeks and then the album will be released in the autumn, with a winter tour to promote it.

I see a few of the recent tours kicked off in Feb, so that's a possible start date for the NEW ALBUM tour.

Realistically there's no other reason for them to be in the studio with Kev present except for working on a new album.

Also, if they were mixing anything other than a new studio album I can't see why they would go to Paris or use a studio the quality of William Tell. Shirley could mix a live album at home.
