The Trooper Beer

The 666 is what I was hoping regular Trooper had been in the beginning, and is really fkkn delicious. That being said, I still maintain that regular Trooper is a great, sessionable English beer made for pounding by the pint all day at the pub.

Looks like we're getting a new beer come September: http://www.ironmaidenbeer.com/news/red-n-black

And instead of changing the name, they're just adding surnames (which could get a little confusing)..."I'll have a Trooper!"-"Aye, but which one?!"

From a marketing standpoint, it makes sense: capitalize on the brand name of Trooper while cross-promoting the new album. I get it. But Fear (or Beer) of the Dark is simply too easy to pass up, IMO.

Well, this is pretty cool: https://www.facebook.com/ironmaiden...3045740142725/952608691519757/?type=3&theater

Turns out that only residents of Illinois will be the first people in the U.S. to get a chance at trying Trooper Red N Black when it ships in September. The store offering the orders (http://www.wlvliquors.com/product/robinsons-trooper-red-n-black) is just a couple miles from my apartment, so I'll have to head over there and ask if I can reserve some bottles. Tried ordering them online but shipping is as much as the bottles themselves. I don't want to try it so bad that I'll pay $12-13 a beer, that's for damn sure.

I hear tell we should be getting it soon. Our store sells more Trooper than anyone else in Colorado, I think, so I'm hoping we get a good amount of it.

I had my first taste of the regular Trooper beer like last week. It was very hmm...perfumery. I'm sure it would be better after a couple :p

Trooper is best on draught. It's okay from a bottle, and not so good from a can (especially at about 11 in the morning).

Trooper is definitely best on draught. Luckily there's a fair few pubs in London (uk) that serve it.

I do like it bottled but trying to find it in the shops is a nightmare. Selected large sainsburys do it but I've not seen it in any of the other supermarkets at all. The 666 version and the red and black porter aren't in any supermarket either.

Bit of a shame as it's awkward having to always order it online. Means I'll have to take a day off work just to sit and and wait for a delivery.

Don't know why it's not available in more shops as I thought it had taken off and become more popular.

The one I had was on bottle. I've never seen them on cans and having Trooper beer on draught I would imagine being almost impossible outside of the UK :)

When it first came out my local bar back in Tucson got a torpedo keg of it for a Maiden party/quiz night. It was awesome. Me and at least one other guy thought so.
