Instrumentals game (YouTube playlist online!)

Forostar

Ancient Mariner
Night Prowler made a YouTube playlist of all the tracks for the Instrumentals game! It's easier than having to click on every link, this way the tracks play one after the other:
http://goo.gl/OSNf9I

I'd say, check it out. :)

I've still kept the separate links for direct access; read on:

Here are all the 128 tracks for the upcoming instrumentals game, compiled by 16 members.
Big thanks to all of you who contributed in the last four to five weeks ! :ok:

See more about the game below the list.

Thumbs up for Night Prowler who went through all the links, replaced the dead ones and added the missing ones. He is also working on a YouTube playlist!

I am posting these songs already to give everybody an opportunity to prepare.
Don't forget, when the game starts, it is still possible to listen to a track when it appears in its "head-to-head" match(es).

If any of you happen to notice any mistakes, please tell me. It will still take a while before the game starts. If this topic will drown under, because of all the other new topics, then I might give it a kick every once in a while. Hope that's alright.

Dear music lovers, stressing the word music. ;-) ....
I'd like to do a game solely featuring instrumental tracks.

My main idea is that I want people to share (and learn about other) instrumental music. I am trying to do it in a manner that people will have a chance to listen to the music before we start. There will be a long period of preparation in which we can post our own favourites. We don't have to mention all tracks at once. On the contrary, we can spread suggestions and take the time we need. So every once in a while when you think "I like this instrumental track", post it here.

In this way, I am hoping that we will keep this topic alive and eventually we will arrive at a thorough collection, and the the cool thing is that we also have time to play each others picks because there will be links provided.

Let's have the links in spoilers so that the pages won't load slow.

So I urge everybody:
A- Let's post!
B- Let's listen!
It would be really cool if we really try to listen to the suggestions, especially in case we don't know them. This way, also relatively unknown songs have a chance in the competition.

All genres are allowed. Naturally, when people would bring in their picks, they can decide themselves if they want to take into account with expected popularity or not.

I decided to include Maiden even though it could result into a predictable outcome. So Transylvania, The Ides of March, Genghis Khan & Losfer Words (Big 'Orra) are already in, you don't have to post them here. I only hope people pay attention to the other songs as well, instead of only wanting Maiden to win and that's it.

Thanks a lot in advance for your input and listening commitment. ;-)

@Night Prowler @Mosh @mckindog and other people with experience with miscellaneous games or who want to help me: I am not sure how to do the game. How to group the music? Which format would suit this best? World Cup or Survivor format? Keep in mind that this is a game that probably features more unknown tracks than the average game we had up til now. Feedback appreciated.

Morbid Angel - Desolate Ways
A one hundred second acoustic, piercing straight through the heart.

Format depends on how many songs you acquire. Doesn't matter now, just collect songs and think about the format later :)

Agreed. But smaller groups would probably be better so people don't get overwhelmed with too many new songs at once.

I think a tournament of champions style game would be the way to go. That way you can have smaller groups and each song has a better chance of a fair competition.

I'll post some songs tonight.

This is going to be tough, there are shitloads of good instrumentals when you count every genre. I guess we won't count older classical pieces though, it wouldn't even be fair. I'll try to post some stuff later in the day.

Edit: Actually, here are some just now off the top of my head.

Vangelis - Blade Runner End Theme
Yellow Magic Orchestra - Rydeen
Opeth - Epilogue
Miles Davis - Blue in Green
Miles Davis - So What
John Coltrane - Blue Train
Manavishnu Orchestra - You Know, You Know
King Crimson - Red
Al Di Meola - Land of the Midnight Sun
Joe Satriani - Surfing with the Alien
Dream Theater - Erotomania
Dream Theater - The Dance of Eternity
Dream Theater - Stream of Consciousness

The following are seperate songs on the same album. Couldn't find a video where they're on their own. Part 3 and Part 4 are on different albums so if you're going to count this one as one piece, you should count the first two parts.

King Crimson - Larks Tongues in Aspic Part 1 (The first 13:36)
King Crimson - Larks Tongues in Aspic Part 2 (From 13:36 to 20:40)
